1050 WLIP

Looks as though they MAY have just flipped from AC/Oldies from ABC Memories format to Oldies. They had this weekend special going on and I noticed liners mentioning "Oldies Radio" which is the name of ABC's oldies service.

Then I turned it un around noon today to catch the midday news report with Lisa Tyler. At the end of the news she said "Now more good time rock & roll on AM1050 WLIP. Here's The Rascals" and then a long set of oldies started without any liners. Just oldies. <P ID="signature">______________

It is nice to hear that someone, even if it is a small market station, has not forgotten the Oldies demo. There are alot of us still out here (and we are still breathing) who enjoy the format immensely. There currently is no oldies station in Milwaukee proper and those of us who listen have to depend on small market signals like WLIP to get our "fix".

Hats off to "The Lip" for remembering that some of us are listening and give us an alternative to The Empire's stations. Jeremy, please keep us updated on the happenings at AM 1050.

Yup, I think you're right. I heard "we play the top 1050 rock & roll hits of all time." And a reference to the '50s, '60s. & '70s. Sounds like a great playlist. Has "Jack Oldies" come to Kenosha? Kudos to WLIP!

There are some satellite problems, soon to be fixed. Also, a
few technical upgrades, including a return to working AM
stereo. That half-wave stick gets out pretty well, IMO.

You sure about that, Jeremy? I get their signal on the North Side much better during the day than I do at night. Have to use the "tin foil method" at night to hear them.

100% certain. You probably don't get it as well at night because the NYC 1050 most likely overpowers it at night. I have been able to drive halfway to Madison and listen during the day. Not sure about at night. It comes in somewhat OK in downtown Chicago (Away from the highrises) during the day, but there is some bleed over from 1060 WHFB Benton Harbor, MI. It doesn't cover the Chicago area at night because of the other stations mixing in. I never tried it in the Milwaukee area at night so I wouldn't know.

Terry Habil was on Wed. P.M. Probably the best Oldies D.J. in SE Wisconsin. The guy really knows his stuff. Says he'll be broadcasting his "Rock & Roll Never Forgets" show live in Waukegan Saturday night............from the Doo Wop show at the Genesee theater.

WLIP sounded terrible Thursday afternoon. They must have been on the satellite. Lots of dead air.......no '50s at all while I was listening. I finally tuned back to WRLL. I hope they get that afternoon thing fixed before all the format change hype fizzles out.
