~1053 The Fan!!!~ (Insert 80's montage jingle here)

Wondering is anyone knows the weekend evening/nighttime lineup on 105.3?

Looking at their website and I see they have Speed Freaks 9-11pm Sunday nights...I assume it's Fox sports following that.

But leading up to Speed Freaks on Sunday (and from 5p-midnight on Saturday) anything notable or worth listening to?

Though, I suppose I could just wait until this weekend to find out, but then I wouldn't get to start a shiny new topic!

...Thanks

From what I understand if The Fan isn't running Saturday night races, they usually have the weekday host doing 1 Weekend show on Saturday.

Since they do have a saturday race they may have the shows do sundays? Otherwise it is just a couple of the shows that were on Live, and throw in something else.

I haven't listened on the weekends.

And I also see the haters have arrived.

People who hate the Fan comprise the overwhelming majority of DFW radio listeners. Statistically speaking, it would be almost impossible for haters NOT to show up in a thread about 105.3.

But, hey, for the dedicated few who like the station, good for you. Enjoy yourselves. In fact, call every sponsor the station has and tell them how much you love the station. Based on the ratings, the only hope for The Fan is for the chosen few to spend like mad with the sponsors.

I'm just glad I'll be able to hear the Cowboys games without all of the static this season!!

According to a friend of mine at The Fan the Boys' will have the pole position when it comes time for NASCAR and NFL to have events on the same day.

It's going to be nice to at least get the Boys' with no static just in case FOX has someone doing a horrible job broadcasting.

THE FAN... has popped up in Lubbock, Texas. The station KKAM, that used to carry Texas Tech sports but recently lost or gave up that right to another cluster across town... is now called.... THE FAN. Does bad radio spread like the SWINE FLU?

If every fan of the fan spends $250,000 a year on every sponsor of the Fan the station will stay on the air. I am sure of it.

Anything less and the forecast becomes dicey.

You must be joking, because in this economy, the average listener likely doesn't have that kind of money.

He's probably joking, but there's a nugget of truth in there. The Fan's cume is pitifully small. The few people they have better be spending all their money with advertisers or they're gonna have issues...

Likely? In exactly what economy does any average person have 250 large in disposable income? I couldn't put together 250,000 pesos right about now.

A strong, stable one might, but that wasn't my point. My point was comparing the current weak economy against "any" disposable income. I believe the latest unemployment figure percentage is something like 8.9%, a level we haven't seen since 1983.
