106.1 New Orleans Flips To "True Oldies"

He was doing morning traffic today.

And on my previous comments - the audio quality is crap. Didn't really listen to the songs.

Yeah... the audio sounds like a poor-quality web stream. I enjoyed Martini since it went AC.

garbage! bad audio is right! that wont last here..............it will be scrapped before you know it.
its terrible how citadel got the bottom of the barrel for stations here.
--92.3 still having transmitter issues, went back to backup downtown over the weekend
--102.9 sounds to me to have antenna tuning issues
--106.1 weak signal because xmitter on northshore
--106.7 broadcasting audio in mono since last week. right channel died so they bridged it

thoghts anyone??

Citadel has engineering issues in Lafayette as well,
  • 93.7 KRDJ has a lot of background noise, like another station is bleeding into their audio
  • 104.7 KNEK is often terribly distorted and often the audio level is louder in one chanel vs the other
  • 94.5 KSMB has horrible processing, very loud and distorted, with weak Bass and Treble, sounds like its processed to be played on clock radios, or the such. Listener fatuigue sets in about 15 minutes.

KSMB sounds like crap because Novasad is always trying to "tweek it". What a 50-year old is doing in the morning on a CHR is mind-boggling.

Nothing wrong with KXKC last time I listened.

The Citadel stations in New Orleans are all a joke.

I agree. I still can't figure the decision to put Hornets Basketball on their weakest station(KMEZ) than on their Powerhouse and use it to reinvent 92.3. But I guess that would make sense ;D

Even if they flipped 106.1, does that mean we may see some others out the door (in the way of formats?)

I think 92.3 was on the big tower for two or three days and that's it...back to New Orleans. My question is will it harm or hurt them?

104.1 I don't know if they are on low power at the transmission site or what as I'm basically line of sight to the transmitter tower.

Haven't listened to KNEK, 93.7 I can't tell if they have audio issues as they are a marginal station with bleed from a Biloxi station at times at my location (but I want to say they've had issues before..also If I remember, Vydra is VTed in from New Orleans)

The liners are in stereo. As is the commercials. But the music sounds horrid!

Yeah, pretty much Smashed....

The music is a feed from ABC Radio Networks. Your host,... the legendary Scott Shannon (Z-100 New York, 95.5 WPLJ New York, 97FM WABB Mobile, AL, etc.) It wouldn't be a bad thing if the audio could be cleaned up. I put it on yesterday for the first time and listened a while. It's kinda like a 'TIX without too much of the obscure stuff. He's got hits from the late 50's to early 70's.

Interesting, I thought at one time ABC had two oldies networks and gave Shannon's the boot...

Actually Sawtooth, 104.1 is having the same problems as 92.3 since they share the same tower & antenna up in Vacherie, LA. Citadel did right by putting a temporary transmitter on top of St. Charles Place for Diva here in New Orleans cause otherwise, it wouldn't be listenable.

But back to 104.1, the station Kicks 104 in Mobile, AL keeps killing their signal here in the metro! Especially today; right now to be exact! I put 104.1 on in the car and I'm getting country out of Mobile! How about you, are you having trouble with 104.1 where you're located? I used to get them in really weak on small radios around the house, but since the tower issues arose, I can't get 104.1 at all unless I'm in the car and skip isn't in.
