106.1 NOLA now Fox Sports

Heard the voice of Waldheim/Abita Springs/Picayune/New Orleans IDing itself this morning as "106.1 The Ticket" and carrying Fox Sports Radio.

Website for True Oldies is still up as of this writing, stream player shows the last two songs played were Last Dance at 11:51pm then City of New Orleans at 11:54pm.
 
great! so what are we gonna do for an oldies station for the north shore.... where i live wtix fm is hopeless and wtgg is weak as well...
we had at one time oldies 104.7 but it's sports also... :mad:
 
Wonder if KWKH in Shreveport will do the same? Older formats are hard to sell now.
 
Northshore try 96.5 Amite.....I was wondering if this was gonna happen. BTW 690 is now Yahoo Sports radio..And I heard Jimmy Ott on there this afternoon ..formerly on 1210 BR (now gospel)

KWKH did sports for a few years back around 2001 if I remember . But now it's pulling some good numbers as a classic country station last I looked on am.. however Shreveport market has a oldies channel on 95.7
 
OK, so WIST is Yahoo Sports, WWWL (damn them for dropping WSMB!) is ESPN, as is WSLA, Slidell, plus WWL has all its sports coverage, and now we have Fox Sports on 106.1? Is there really that much money to be made with that dilute a market? Or is this just one of those Flavor of the Week programming decisions?
 
You forgot KKND 102.9 holding court on the Hornets, so wonder if 106.1 will thru a technicality (as they are actually a northshore station) get the hornets also since both stations ARE Citadel/Cumulus Media stations

Hornets moved to 106.1 this season.

And just in case anyone didn't realize - Yahoo! Sports Radio is the former Sporting News Radio.
 
Wait...Doesn't Cumulus own ESPN Radio since the buyout of Citadel. I can see one day that switch too, as the contract with Entercom-N.O. expires one day. Also, is Cumulus now in the running to bid on the Saints one day too?

Cumulus distributes. ESPN Radio is still owned by Disney.
 
Fox Sports has been on Northshore's 104.7 for a couple of years and those guys on Fox are HORRIBLE !!! It was even worse when they had Steven A. Smith doing am drive and unfortunately, now he is back yelling on ESPN2. That new am drive guy is also ANNOYING so I have already changed that button on my radio. Not surprised they changed though since they literally had NO ratings, although this won't catch on either.
 
Maybe you need a new car? ;) ( rimshot!)....all i can say is that i'm having fun 4-7pm on "The Ticket" 106.1...SPORTS BUZZ......like therapy..mic goes on and i babble like the crazy talkin fool that i am...savess me tons of money...don't have to pay for meds...plus i eat cheese puffs all day.
Join in and enjoy yaself.Its a crazy world ( like radio) Join me and together we can at least show 'em "they ain't takin us alive!!!)

Yo 'Smash' they beat Orlando last night.You always seem to have a sour attitude about things on this site.I just reached out to my fellow radio people and you take my heart and step on it.Is this what its become? A man seeks comfort among his tribe and takes a shot to the head?

I will gather my things and move out of my hut by morning.I'll leave you my ole Varsity Letter Sweater as a memory of the good times we used to have.

I've manged to survive this looney bin we call radio only because i was able to hide the pills they would make me take under my tongue.I never let them toss the net on me.

I'll go away now.( hanging my head...deep sorrow)..i guess i'll continue to battle for all of those in radio land amd a lonely warrior..( roll sad music and credits.....go wide shot to see me walking down the lonely highway holding a sack of my belongings.
 
Sour attitude..Dude I really do listen in the afternoons.. Now I will be listening thinking..that dude dont like me..maybe I will call tomorrow..btw I am a Hornets fan...But we seem to not be doing to well without CP3. I havent been to a game when they have won..and Ive been to several!
