106-1 RDU Country now in HD

As of June 30th, WRDU 106.1 is broadcasting in HD Radio, the last of the local CC properties to do so. Right now, they're only broadcasting their primary channel in HD.

Wow - So now we can listen to jocks from other markets pretend to be in Raleigh with stunning digital clarity.

Another great idea from the same think tank that brought us John Boy & Billy (three times), "Kissmas" Music, and $10 spot rates on class c FM stations. Sheer genius.

They must still be making adjustments, the HD signal's been off all weekend and is off as of 4:45 pm this afternoon (7/6).

They're also listing the COL as Knightdale now, rather than Wilson. I take it they've moved...?

They were waiting until they moved to turn on HD, so I would say that is a good assumption.

106-1 HD2 RDU

As of July 24th, WRDU "106-1 RDU Country" has signed on their HD-2 sub-channel, which is now broadcasting a great classic country format under the handle "106-1 HD2 RDU".

I have to say, in all seriousness, that was the most thoughtful relevant post I've ever seen Big Ape throw down on this board.

I also noticed that they have switched from 100,000k to 27,500K and requested a permit to move to a c-1 station. Does this really save them much money?

It allowed WUSH 106.1 in Poquoson VA to increase from Class A to Class B1.
