What format is this station, I listen to it on my way to virginia, but they have no website. I dont know if they are chr or hot ac,,, the music is very rhythmic at times, but they sometimes play stuff like bruce Springstein-glory days..... I listen to this station when I get too far from lexington to get WLKT, and before I can get 100.5 Kee Fm in Ashland ky-huntington Wv....... not sure where their col is,,, kee fm isnt that great of a chr, and Electric 102.7 in charleston Wv is ok but has a limited signal due to the mountains, and 98.7 The beat is only 600 watts... Another good station I get on the way to my girlfriends house is 103.7 cir-fm I think its called,, Its somewhere south of charleston, they never say where its from except at the toh ID, and this station also has no website, but you can read about it online.

"103 CIR" is the CHR station in Beckley, WV. (Their website is 103CIR.com). They can be heard up and down I-77 between Beckley and Charleston. The mountains block their signal to the south into Bluefield, WV. I think the best sounding CHR in WV though is 102 WVAQ in Morgantown. Of course you can't get it though unless you are north of Charleston, going towards Pittsburgh.

I was just up that way a couple of weeks ago. I took my son and his girlfriend up to Niagara Falls and went through WV, Pittsburgh, Erie, and stayed in Buffalo. We came back down through Ohio and KY. As far as standout stations go that I really liked (WVAQ Morgantown and WDJQ "Q92" Canton, OH were my favs. Both are really well programmed small market stations that I stream quite often. Also, I always love listening to the Canadian stations in Buffalo. Virgin Radio 99.9 and 104.5 CHUM FM are personal favs & can be heard throughout the Buffalo market. Also WRTS "Star 104" Erie is always good too. Oh, and the VA stations near where your girlfriend lives are great as well. K92 Roanoke and Hot 100 Blacksburg are both excellent CHRs. In fact, Hot 100 is one of my favorite Cumulus CHRs since they don't lean adult like most Cumulus stations. I guess it's due to the fact that it's a college town. Only bad thing is Hot 100's signal is pretty crappy. With the mountains to the north and the rolling hills in the other direction, their signal is pretty useless outside of Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Wytheville.

I can get hot 100 and k-92 clear as a bell at my girlfriends house near hillsville, but she is up on a mountain,,, driving 6 miles down the mountain, k-92 gets the snot beat out of it by rock-92 in asheboro nc... Hot 100 comes in good too, its only 30 miles away, but again, down in the town of hillsville and galax it gets beat up by some oldies station.. The only time hot 100 leans adult is during the morning, its even dance friendly, they played captain hollywood-more and more in regular rotation..

As a recent (2006) Morehead State grad, I guess I would classify Double X as an Adult CHR. When I first started going to MSU in 2004, they were definitely Hot AC, but thanks to some competition from a somewhat brief extra-legal CHR station formed by some college students, folks at 106.1 figured out what college students wanted to hear and changed their ways somewhat, especially after this small 50 watt "blowtorch" took away most of their listeners in the 2 months it was on the air.
