I don't really go to their website all that much (or listen to the station for that matter), but how long has the "Babes or Hunks" link been there? And note the list of videos available featuring babes:DToTheJ said:I'm a subscriber to their E-newsletter, and the station that once promoted "today's country and the legends" have mysteriously replaced the images of "legendary" artists like Johnny Cash from the E-newsletter. Most recent edition had all current stars (Underwood, Flatts, etc.).
Or here's another idea: Put that 70's-80's-90's format on 100.7 (The River's 3rd incarnation), and bring back the legendary 106.1 RDU. That would be interesting to see: in that scenario, 100.7 (which was formerly oldies) and 102.9 (which was formerly 70's and 80's) would have swapped formats ;DQ96 WEQR Fan said:I hope they do flip, and if they don't flip to classic rock, which I doubt they would, they should go 70's, 80's and 90's. It really wouldn't be an oldies type format, but give the audience that grew up in those decades something to rock and jam to.
Star 96.9/102.9 did a good job but they didn't open up the playlist like they should have. Hearing Tears for Fears and Simple Minds over and over again didn't peak the interest, there were a ton of good 80's tunes that were never played. They didn't give it long enough to thrive. :
Anything would be better than the chicken.![]()

They have 2 live shifts. Midday and Afternoon. I agree about not having much of a shot vs QDR. CC has never been good at taking down heritage stations in NC (ex. GBT vs KZL/JMH in Gboro) They won't throw enough money or time into it.
From the sound of it, you should change your name to "947 WQDR Fan" - lol. But I don't get how you're tootin the QDR horn so much but then say that the 84 flip to Country was dumb. Maybe I missed something...

WQDR has been the triangle's country music leader for 23 years and counting. The formula for their success ain't hard folks. It doesn't take much thinking to figure it out. They are live and local pretty much 24-7. The DJ's have been there awhile and are constantly out in the community doing live remotes, fundraisers (recently the NC children's hospital) and other events geared to listeners who need help. I don't have a dog in the fight at QDR but that is a hell of a radio station.
The rootster will never catch/surpass WQDR so CC just as well change formats and quit embarrassing themselves. And it's apparent that the "legends" are just becoming that with little or no airplay. The changing of formats last October was the dumbest thing ever in Raleigh radio, even worse that WQDR going from rock to country in 1984.
