The last few days, at the northeast corner of the intersection Sahara and Boulder Highway, I heard what sounds to me like 30s/40s music on 106.1 FM. The signal fades pretty quickly. Is it a pirate, microbroadcaster? Anyone know what station it is and where it is from?

I have monitored this frequency the last week or so, and have heard classic country. The signal is intermittent, and is best heard west of I-15, in an area roughly between Rainbow and Valley View east and west, Charleston to Flamingo north and south. Pirate, or is somebody stunting?

It is probably someone like me that has a small transmitter in their home and/or a portable one in their car. I have both. I work in the Henderson area and during my commute back and forth, I play 50's & 60's oldies thru my car stereo. The signal is in stereo and goes for blocks...

It's easy... go to Best Buy, Fryes, C. Crane Co. and etc. and pick up an FM transmitter. I bought my car transmitter about four years ago and use it daily. You hook your MP3 player (or IPOD) to the transmitter and then it plays thru your car stereo. Not all transmitters are good quality -- some are cheapy ones that only have four frequencies. Others, with a little more cost can be set for any frequency. If you crank up the volume on your MP3 player, you can get a strong signal that will radiate out from your vehicle or home a 1/4 mile or more. The signal is good and in "stereo" and the music of your choice is better than what is on mainstream radio! Enjoy, I do!!! No commercials, but I do include old radio jingles from the 60's to add to the flavor, pulled from old reel-to-reel tapes.
