106.1

This past week I heard that WOLS, 106.1, that is now Hispanic will be taken back by the owners and they are going to do Oldies? Personally I honestly feel this is just talk since the Hispanic folks have a contract for an LMA and then a sale. Anybody heard this?

My guess is if he does change the format he’ll probably do it with “block programming” just like he programs WAVO. Little oldies here, a little talk there; a little music here, a little talk there. Now if someone comes up with enough LMA money and wants to change it to Polka…Oldies are gone baby!

A close source to NORSAN says "no way". They will continue expanding on the FM band and will sell some of the am's in smaller markets.

I can't see GHB ending the LMA after they just entered one with Norsan for their AM/FM in the Triad.

I wonder which FM station Norsan will expand to? Could Radio One be looking to sell?

WQNC 92.7 is not being a factor in the "urban" format that two other Charlotte stations are doing, so don't be surprised if this station is sold soon, which would give Norsan three FM's in play, 106.1, 92.7 and 98.3.

WAVO is mostly music and it's never oldies.

I can't see anyone making money with the number of commercials, but it's a great standards format and I hope it stays around.

I also enjoy the music. What I don’t enjoy is listening to the music and some “sports crap” talk show comes on for two hours. Yes, those shows are sponsored and I doubt that the talent is making any money, but decide whether you’re going to be a music station or talk station. I don’t think most die hard sports talk fans are listening to the standards.
