Tuned across them today and WOW...what's up with their audio? It sounds like a **VERY** low bit-rate MP3. Is it their automation (saving the music hyper-compressed) or are they using some sort of MP3 stream for their STL? The last time I heard music sound that way I found out the station was using MP3s on the air that had been downloaded form the internet as MP3s and then saved on a hard drive with the data compression as high as they could set it.

Anyone know what's causing it to sound that bad?

One of the Crawford stations (and it may well have been this one) had this condition a while back... I want to say several months ago. I never did hear what the issue was, and it's a station I never tune into. Has this persisted continually for a while?

Which one are we talking about?

Last one I heard was WYRB about 2 weeks ago and it sounded simply OK. Not sure about now. Maybe its an on and off thing.

I know the YRB part of the broadcast just sounds "BAD"... They had a simular problem a few months back... If the HD broadcast sounds as bad as the analog version then satellite radio has nothing to worry about... How do the other Crawford stations sound??? CC

I live in Power 92's primary contour area, and 92.3 is horrible too. Their audio is overprocessed, and in some cases, I have to turn down my radio because the audio is set too high at their end. I don't know the technical stuff of audio, but it's terrible. I'm not sure about WYCA though. I live in their secondary contour, and only in the last year, WXLC has overpowered their signal in Gary.
