106.3 The Truth Flips Back To Music

I just tuned in to Fort Wayne's 106.3 The Truth, only to find they've gone to a music format like their previous Joe FM; I guess they had trouble making the talk format work.

Most of the non-show air time was repetitive PSA's, and the only local show I've heard from them was on Saturday nights, with a couple of bantering 20somethings.

I think it's an awesome idea. It makes me wonder if they're gonna use the "ClickHop" brand in other markets. I would love for a station like this to come to Dayton or Columbus. The imaging is slammin, there's such a wide variety of music, and it's straight hip-hop, vs. the other stations in Ft. Wayne that are more rhythmic-leaning. Sounds like Wild has some competition.

Here's ClickHop at 11am:

Drake - Headlines (Current)
Big Sean/Kanye West/Roscoe Dash - Marvin And Chardonnay (Current)
50 Cent - 21 Questions (Gold)
T-Pain/Yung Joc - Buy U A Drank (Gold)
Birdman/Nicki Minaj/Lil Wayne - Y U Mad (Current)
Eminem - Without Me (Gold)
Plies/Akon - Hypnotized (Gold)
Ludacris - Southern Hospitality (Gold)
STOPSET
J. Cole - Work Out (Current)
Kreayshawn - Gucci Gucci (Current)
Timbaland/Drake - Say Something (Recurrent)
Nicki Minaj/Rihanna - Fly (Current)
Kanye West & Jay-Z - Otis (Current)
T.I. - Big Things Poppin (Gold)
YC - Racks (Recurrent)

Only 7 currents? Nice variety. From what I noticed... it's definitely interactive. I added tons of songs into the playlist and they got played in minutes. I voted a song that was #1 in the queue, down a few times and it got bumped down pretty far. I noticed they're adding in a few currents an hour that they choose, probably to make sure they're playing the hits no matter what. This is an awesome idea and I hope it lasts in this market. A lot of their imagers are throwing shots at Wild 96.3 which I also think is pretty cool. Ft Wayne listeners, ENJOY! I have it blasting in my house here in Dayton and I'm gonna be playing it in the car on my phone.

Looks like they're trying to be the hip hop version of Jack FM. Nice concept. However, don't think for a moment that listeners are really "picking" the music. I don't see that happening.

Right now they're playing Izzo by Jay Z and I've heard several N bombs. Advertisers aren't going to go for that.

Update: Apparently someone caught it because they cut the song off. Also, I hate the imaging making fun of Wild. You can say I'm biased but I think personal attacks are going way too far. Stay classy, Oasis!

I've put several golds into the queue and they get played within 15 minutes, I mean random stuff that they wouldn't have just thrown on out of thin air. It's definitely listener-controlled aside from the powers they have to put on to keep from being too gold heavy.

Also, remember we're two days in. I heard Otis back to back and I thought, uh oh, but I'm sure they'll get all the kinks fixed soon. As far as the imaging, I've always loved a good battle. It'd be cool if Wild bashed them back somehow. So far everything they're saying about Wild is sorta true from what I know about them.

Wars between radio stations are stupid and drives listeners away. Play what they want to hear and leave the garbage alone. Wild will do better to not even acknowledge them and just keep playing the hits. It takes a toll on the staff too and throws them off their game. It's better to leave it alone. If Russ wants to waste time by trashing his competition as a means to beat them, fine. But Wild would do better to not stoop to his level.

He's tried it before and it didn't work then. It won't work now.

To each their own. Wars can drive listeners away, but I think it's smart for Oasis at this point. Pointing out the fact that they're playing ALL HIP-HOP and not the pop that Wild plays is a good way to keep their hip-hop listeners. I never like when rhythmic CHR's say "Hip-Hop & R&B" when they still play Britney Spears, Bruno Mars, and Lady Gaga. Wild should've used "The Party Station" or "Hits and Hip-Hop". The imagers are causing people to laugh at Wild, not tune in, in my opinion. I think this was a good flip for Oasis.

Correct verbal mentioning of the competition on air is bad. But working your a$$ off to make your station better is what is suppose to happen. If there is no competition almost every organization will get fat and lazy, this is true for radio stations.

They're referring to Wild as "Mild 96.3" and "Mild Wake-Up Show"... gotta give it to them, it's creative.

How is that creative? It doesn't take a genius to come up with that. My five year old nephew could create that campaign.

Wild can tighten up which is always the case for any station. Knowing the staff, this will only make them to get better. I know I'll be pulling for then.

I wasn't referring to "Mild" as creative, but more of what they're taking from the station and choosing to make fun of.

If you look at the ratings, Hot is beating Wild, I'm sure in every demo. I don't think Wild sounds bad at all, but it'll be interesting on how ClickHop does against them in a few books.

actually wjfx is not beating wnht.
12+ yes, but that is because they have huge teen numbers.

18-34 females they were tied for 1st and wnht was killing wjfx in men.

smart move for clickhop to attack the staff, but i have not heard wild do anything to fight back, which is smarter.

i clicked on songs for over an hour and nothing changed at all. seems like a hoax to me.
