Montana 106.3 Translator in Hamilton

Admin note: Removed copy/paste that went beyond fair use. Since there was no direct link to story I cannot comment on misinformation...

*** -------end of article-------------------***

I did submit a comment explaining the misinformation. The ride is the HD-2 of KDXT and is Western Rockies Radio. HD-3 is Boomer 104 and hence (now we know) "Josh Eversole's Boomer 104 LLC". I can see him wanting a translator down here. Boomer's signal kinda sucks. Their translator is lower-powered than 94.3 so their signal is here but it ain't great. I don't know Adam will correct anything, but hey I tried. I know it's confusing but as I told him, Western Rockies Radio does KDXT-HD1 and HD2 and quoting them "We have nothing to do with Boomer. That channel is leased to another company."

And the confusion continues... Ok so the translator is in and it's rebroadcasting KDXT's main signal - "107 the ranch" which is a translator itself. Main signal is 97.9. So ...not even guessing. Who is buying and leasing to do what.

The article does say that Boomer 104 LLC did buy the 106.3 translator. Boomer 104 is a translator station fed by (supposed to be) KDXT'S HD3 signal. So riddle me this: an HD sub channel can be put on a translator. Can an HD sub channel be put on multiple translators? If not then that would explain only being able to rebroadcast KDXT'S main signal.

Maybe the guy that bought the 106.3 translator from Shelia Callahan and Friends is leasing it to Western Rockies Radio to rebroadcast "The Ranch". That would also make sense since KDXT's main signal comes from a site in Stevensville that doesn't reach this part of the valley clear. (see my post on 98.7...also on that same site). Maybe the rebroadcast of the main signal is temporary. Who knows. Ugh....it's so confusing. Not sure about the rules on translators and HD sub-channels. Not a lot of forthcoming info from any involved. The article says "the Ride" is gonna be rebroadcast...which can't be if a sub-channel cannot rebroadcast on more than one translator. "The Ride" is a translator for an HD sub-channel. Anyways I will shut-up before "I" am the one with misinformation! :)

It's official. 106.3 Translator in Hamilton (K292GH) is now re-broadcasting "Boomer 104" (K281CH / KDXT-HD3 ) So that answers my question. I guess an HD Sub-channel CAN be rebroadcast on more than one translator.
