106.3 WGVC website down

yeah going dark might be their next format, since no one listens anyway! well if you are a regular website visitor and you noticed they just changed it to a blank page today, then something could definately be up. Whether it be website issues or a format change in the works, keep your eyes and ears open and let us know.

Neil

Actually, I think they might get better ratings broadcasting dead air. I tuned in last time I was down that way, and gosh was it horrible...

WGVC's website is still down...certainly something to make me go "hmmmm". And it IS the end of the month--good time for a format flip either tomorrow (June 1) or maybe Monday? I also did a quick check of Entercom's other websites--B93.7; Magic 98.9; and WORD--they're all up and running. I mean if it's a website issue, wouldn't it be possible for all of them to be down?

Eric

Still not working, wouldn't surprise me at all....how many stations can stay on the air not even making the 12+ book?? Flipping on a Thursday or Friday, stunting the weekend, then launching the new format on a Monday is what a lot of them do. Every day they leave it on, there is going to be a bigger mess to clean up and they will make themselves look more and more ignorant.

OK Lets have a little fun... Lets assume that GVC does flip what are some format choices the upstate needs... Since most stations uses stations to protect their cash cows what could be done with GVC to get them back on track... I think a good urban AC would do pretty good in the upstate... Entercom would have to really beat the streets and be very community active... They could use the UAC model from their station up in Greensboro... This would not hurt any of the other Entercom stations. and more important it would give 1073JAMZ a good run for the money... It would take time to build, but I am certain that in 18 months if programmed right would be in the top ten 12+ and maybe even top five in the money demo... I don't know who would be a good local jock for mornings, but there is always Steve Harvey who has been catching on quite a bit due to the fact Tom Joyner seems so lifeless and boring... OK that is my take... We will assume that it is a website glitch, but if something is up lets have a little fun... CC1

PS Stations picks will be back next week with a station I have always been curious about!!! I will post it Sunday... ;D

a C3 will stand no chance against Cox's "Urban Wall" on C0 sticks.

Move WORD to 106.3. Barring that, maybe bring back oldies.

G

I personally think if they are going to flip formats, then they need to go back to the oldies format where they had done so well before all of the format changes, and let's face it, it was a darn good oldies station.

I never really got to hear Oldies on 106.3 except when I was visiting SC on my honeymoon!!! They were pretty decent from what I remember... The next time I came down they were a walking :). Even though stranger things has happen I don't see Entercom bringing back oldies... If it was viable they would not have killed off oldies 03 in GSO... They were doing very nice in the rating, but they felt the trends were showing that the market for oldies was slowly drifting away... WORD on 106.3 would also be a very smart move and a move that Entercom needs to really consider... CC1

I suggest 60s/70s/80s....an updated version of the Oldies format, that way it would get a slightly younger audience and they wouldn't be bringing back the exact same thing. Maybe 50% 70s, 30% 60s and 20% 80s. I guess it could be called Classic Hits, but NOT the type of CH like WXRC/Charlotte, WJGL/Jacksonville, WSRV/Atlanta, etc that are mostly Classic Rock. This could have more R&B/Soul and Pop stuff mixed in as well, basically Oldies with a lot of 70s songs and some 80s.

I think that kind of a format would work very well. II know that WOMG here in Columbia is leaning more to the 70's with much of the music that I hear them playing anymoree and I really like that and think that it would work well in the upsate.

ROTFL! I thought they wanted comments? Can they just not face the truth? Nobody was even commenting (probably no listeners) except mostly negative ones. Entercom/Greenville amazes me.

Whether Entercom cares or not...since they are removing some of the comments that means they ARE reading them. So, for what it's worth...
