Just an observation:

For a station long declared dead by many on this site, its the only one that is attracting ANY attention on this site!

Imagine how things would be different if Arbitron accounted for your attention...

Jeezzzzzzzzz

I have to agree here. If I had a station in Albuquerque, I wish everybody would talk about it this much. Those who consider AGM to be doing a poor job sure seem to listen to it a lot. I'm not one for Talk Radio, but I give AGM credit for going after a New Mexico giant. As for Arbitron, I could live happily ever after with a 1.0 in a top 100 market.
Are there any stations in town we consider to be doing a good job?

Why do we talk about KAGM so much? My Thought

Most of us wanted them to score a TD!Instead They Fumbled and fumbled and fumbled again. A year ago they were Live and Local on FM, NOW they have very little local.
They now have a PD who in Monday's paper was not man enough to say Chris and Bean were not getting ratings so I suggested we not renew their contracts instead he said Bakersfield said fire them so I did. I think if thats the case and the New PD really wanted them, then that means they are already undermining their new PD!

Please any AGM folks on here tells us the real story.

Is corporate calling the shots and undermining the PD OR Is the PD not telling the paper the truth? which is it.

I feel we wanted them to do well but they show their lack of leadership from the GM on down and we are all disapointed. I know I wanted them to win.

This Morning with snow all around KOB had a Live Local Forecast while KAGM had a tapped guy from out of town! case closed. OH and they were promoing their website so I said oh it must be back up wrong!!!!!

I agree..for what it's worth. We can all agree that AGM is broken at many levels. Track records from past years' fiascos, indicate that nothing will change in their operation. As outsiders, we'll never know the inside decision making process..nor should we. Corporate or local level, the decision has been made. If they had been mildly successful, it would be a more interesting radio landscape. Possible outcomes..one, they are preparing to re-launch the station..or two, a new format is in the offing.
And one certainty, the bleeding has got to stop. We can see the steps to lessen the red ink already..but somehow, they have to increase revenue. Format change or ? We can only sit and watch.

What should we do, talk about how great KKOB is? Critique 94's every move? Fact is, we're in radio and our business is attracting listeners and the dollars that follow - what good is it to talk about who's doing fantastic? Sure, occassionally sometime happens that deserves discussion, but for the most part, there's nothing to discuss about the top stations. They are well-oiled machines and have plenty of listeners. Think of us like some kind of home makeover show - the projects that are in pristine shape don't require our attention. Believe me, nobody in the public is talking about KAGM. We simply talk about it because we know its a waste of spectrum. To the average listener, the only spectrum that matters is their two or three favorite stations, and they couldn't name a dozen other stations.
