106.5 Austin?

I noticed last week 92.5, KXXS was broadcasting in HD and had an HD2 which I thought was silly for their awful market penetration. Now it sounds like they are re-broadcasting the HD2 on a translator at 106.5 in Austin. According to the FCC, this translator isn't even a CP yet. It sounds like the same programming, but I'm not very good with spanish music. Anyone got any ideas?

I noticed they had RDS on, but I didn't know they had HD or I can not get the signal.

Once 92.5 moves to the tower farm, it will be a blaster though !

sure, it's going to be a blaster! To Rollingwood, Westlake and West Austin. It might (if the CP goes through) be a great coup, however without San Marcos, Georgetown and the entire metro it still wont measure up. Remember the late 80's when K-98 (KHFI at 98.3) had a translator in San Marcos at 96.7 because it was only a Class A? Kinda ironic today.

yes, and the metro was less than half the area it is now. I also remember KNOW (1490) being #1, but try and get 1490 in the suburbs at night nowadays. Again, it would be a great coup for KXXS to move to Mount Larson but unless you cover the entire metro with a city grade signal, you can't really compare that to the old K98's success. Plus, there were a lot less signals then too.

Or for that matter, back then as well! I remember KNOW fading at sunset, and I lived in Allandale. Gosh, I miss real radio.

Real people on the radio day and night fighting thru the AM static to be heard. It was great. I feel lucky to have been a part of it.
