106.5 FLIP READY TO HAPPEN?

Web site looks ready made for change. No talent listing. Not to worry, they were all BA, but they're not there. No local stuff except for flashbacks to events up to two-three years ago. Hmmm...might wanna watch.

Since this is a Cincy board I venture to guess it's either WNKR's Classic Country, but its site still lists three on air DJs.

Or...

The only other one would be Greenville/Dayton's WDSJ but practically all its DJs are Sat jocks or VT-ers since there is no DJ page. The website has a different look since the last time I logged on there.

Okay smooth jazz fans in Cincy and Dayton.....saddle up and log on to WCIN's website...others north of Dayton send Gene Kirby up at Indian Lake's WRPO-LP a generous monetary donation (and some mms webspace) so he can stream online again. (He used to stream back in 2002 when he started out with Big Band...but gave up the stream....possibly a license fee issue?)

Don't forget, WNKR moved to 106.7 about a year ago....
So, I guess the answer is Dayton's Smooth Jazz @ 106.5. Listened to them a few minutes ago (online from SoCal) seemed like nothing new going on. ???
Can you provide additional details of this impending "flip"?
Inquiring minds would like to know.

Sorry about that. I should have known better since I live in an area where I can hear two 106.5 signals at the same time from Cleveland and Dayton. I'm talking about the smooth jazz station in Dayton.

WDSJ and WCIN both use the same sattelite network...so WDSJ fans will hear no difference.

SOoooowhat does CC have planned next for 106.5? ...a Dayton version of Lima's Wild 93.9? WDKF is better suited to fill THAT void!

Amen to WRPO and Gene Kirby's little LPFM operation in Russells Point....Aside from WCTM's Stanley Coning in Eaton (now retired since 2004) Gene is one of the few radio folks with a big heart. He's a little guy in the biz like 'ol Stanley...and you just cannot find people like that anymore. Gene is also loaning out his station to some eclectic programming on Saturday morning...a one hour mix of vintage, recent and current blues at 9am and an "old time" bluegrass show at 10am. He still produces his big band show for Ultimate Oldies WSWO as well.

Any computer geeks up that way living near the station willing to hook their computers up to their FM receiver and set up a WRPO tribute site with a clandestine stream? (heh-heh!)

ONLINE RADIO NERDS RULE!

SUPPORT WRPO!

I don't see a flip for WDSJ until it sells

Seems like the only FLIP they need is with another station that could serve both Cincinnati and Dayton with Smooth Jazz. If there was a station with a great signal in say Middletown it could probably do SJ and cover the whole area.

Right now it's AM Smooth Jazz in Cincinnati, and the Dayton station is pretty much broadcasting to the corn fields and cows!!

Makes sense to me

It's about time someone said what many of us have been thinking - move the smooth jazz format to WPFB-FM (mostly cover the new metroplex of Cincinnati/Dayton). The signal is pretty awesome and needs to be maximized to its potential.

This one is a "no-brainer" - however, I feel the current owners (WPAY/WPFB Inc.) are more "country" than "city" - just a perspective.

Stay tuned.

Agree. It was more a wish/hope than a logical, business-oriented suggestion. I like the smooth jazz format (figures, seems to be dying in larger markets).

Money talks (unfortuntely).

For what it's worth, I enjoy listening to the station online.
