106.5 The Zone a goner?

Wow. That would end a long era of rock on that frequency.
Anyone in Toledo: Is the Zone a lot like the Buzz was? The reason I always listened to WIOT over the Buzz, other than the signal, was WIOT in those days (late 90s) had a much better sound in terms of professionalism. The Buzz DJs always sounded stoned or straight out of high school.

The Zone is nothing like The Buzz. The Buzz was an odd mixture of Blue collar rock like VH,Zepplin,Floyd, and The Who with newer rock of the day like STP,NIN,Mettalica,Nirvana, etc plus they played off the wall metal stuff like The Melvins. The station was quite unique, along with the jocks sharing duties at Classic rock 97.3.

the Zone is much like 88.7 out of Windsor or what 105.1fm The Edge out of Detroit was. So yeah, it will be the end to the era of rock on 106.5.

"Supporting the new music revolution, 106-5 the Zone!"

(cue Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy" or Nirvana's "Nevermind")

Yeah, I won't miss them. Although I don't see the point of simulcasting 1470 on such a crud signal. Maybe it'll improve their coverage west and south of Toledo city limits at night, that's about it.

Shoulda went totaly FM and went to 94.5, Then move Zep,Floyd, and Seager over to 106.5. Then Simulcast 1560 on 1470.

Yeah, The zone kinda lost its way. I mean, 90's Alternative and New rock? Good music and all but as a flanker station it wasnt doing much for 94.5 trying to compete with 104.7, as far as billing goes this might be a better fit.

I don't think they had a song titled "Nevermind" - you're probably thinking of "Smells Like Teen Spirit"... but point taken.

Tirico and Van Pelt on FM. Yawn.

Tirico's gone....but yeah. I'll gladly stick with Jim Rome on 1230.

My bad on the Nirvana thing, as a child of that era I should know better.
