Is supposed to debut it's new format tomorrow. Anybody have any idea what Staradio is putting on down here? With a name like the X...I am assuming some sort of modern rock? ???

Well....thats a safe name...that way you can go in a few directions with it....like you can go X treme country...etc. I hope its just a misleading tactic....you would think someone wouldn't put country and pictures of country artists on a web page for a new station that the format is so "hush-hush" on.

yeah, it might just be a smokescreen, was 106.5 country before?

No it was dark....there was no 106.5. They just built the tower for it.

Based on the little bit I have listened so far, X-Country plays mostly new music. They're not exactly in direct competition with 101.7 River Country, but I'm guessing a portion of listeners will jump from River to X.

I haven't seen coverage maps yet....but it can't be THAT great. I get tons of static and in and outs....close to Kankakee county too.

IBOC from Soul 106.3 has a major effect on how listenable the station is to the north, depending highly on the receiver. I had the station as far north as Matteson in the car before it became unlistenable. Only one of my radios at home (in Monee) picks up 'XNU, and it picks up fine. None of my other radios get anything between Sould 106.3 and Pasión 106.7.It shouldn't be a problem in most of Kankakee and Iroquios counties, though. Having said that, any new threads about WXNU should be on the Illinois board, not Chicago.
