Why Is No One Talking About 106.7 Fliping From Christian Rock The Source,They Went Off Air A Few Times I Managed 2 Receive 106.7 The Eagle Out Of San Antonio Great Classic Rock Plus The Bull Country 106.7 In Waco,There Currently Stunting With Some Great 80'S Music And Very Rarely Theres A Robot Announcer Saying SomeOne Painted The Transmitter The Wrong Color So We Had To Get A New One They Also looking For Some Help I Also Heard Don McLean American Pie Huey Lewis And The News Elton John AnyMore Info On Whats Happening With This Station?

My guess is they're flipping formats soon and possibly trying to get/are waiting on a new transmitter. I'm never able to pick up the station, and they don't stream, so I have little info as to what they're all about.

As a sidenote, 88.1 KNLE is another station that I've noticed changing a bit. They've lately been playing a lot of Christian covers of classic rock songs along with their usual small-time/indipendent Christian music. They've recently started reading Bible passages over the air, along with their asking for help and donations that they've been doing.
You should see if you can help them out. http://candle88.com/
Interestingly, the other day as I went up to Austin, I heard them playing regional Mexican Christian music, with very bad audio quality. Shortly there after the Spanish stuff stopped, and the regular programming began once again, sounding great. It was still English and sounding great throughout the rest of the weekend, and today as I left Austin back for SA, it hadn't changed from it's usual English programing. My guess is they tried with Spanish programming from another location (probably a Mexican church), but that didn't work out too well. Generally I like The Candle, and listen sometimes when I'm in Austin. They don't currently stream either.

I Like San Antonio Radio But I Here There Starting To Get Cluttered With Translators I Wish The FCC Of Today Respect The AirWaves As Much As The People Who Ran It In The 90'S And Below!!

Just how stunning is it? Lol...

You wonder why is no one talking about it? It's a 12 watt LP, for starters. To be perfectly honest, I opened up this thread thinking, "106-7 Georgetown?? Huh??" I had no idea that someone has sandwiched in a co-channel LPFM between the Terrell Hills and Hewitt facilities. Must be a nightmare dealing with KIXT from the north and KTKX from the south, endlessly fighting for the channel.

You sure are right, Robert. San Antonio is being inundated with translators, and even low power FMs. It's getting to the point where there are no open channels on the band anymore. Houston is starting to have the same issue, with now a half dozen on the air and several more permitted to build. At least San Antonio has something worthwhile airing on their translators. Houston has not been so lucky. What I'm hoping is that iHeart, Univision, CBS or Cox will start making a play to purchase them now that they are built out, or nearing their completion. Be patient, the translator invasion is coming to a town near you. Not sure about the situation in Austin, but Waco just signed 2 more on (104-5 & 106-1) recently.

Under normal conditions, KIXT doesn't reach central Wilco well enough. Even in Temple, it is hit and miss.

KXPW-LP was on 106.7 before McCutchen won the auction for the Hewitt facility. Before the Austin market became much more overcrowded with signals, I could get KXPW-LP in Taylor very well on a junk Sony car radio installed in a rusty K-car. Not bad for a 12 watt facility, huh.

No, not bad at all for 12 watts at just shy of 300' HAAT, if you've picked it up in Taylor. I had no idea the station even existed, much less predating Kix...er, The Bull by several years. Good for them. Even after suffering a couple of hiccups along the way, coming from fines for running commercials, they are still operating and apparently profitable. Not everyone would be able to bounce back from such a setback.

So they are running all 80s now? Heck, that might not be a bad idea for a permanent format for it.

Info on KXPW

It's classic hits music, identifying as Georgetown Community Radio. Here is a 20 minute long aircheck as we were driving earlier. Pretty great for 12 watts, I agree. http://twup.me/3LO+ Great audio quality now.

And KXPW-LP now has a website. http://radiogeorgetown.com/
They gave the email address info (@) radiogeorgetown[dot]com on air, that's how I got it. The website doesn't work right now, though.

I have an update. KXPW filed to change ownership of some of the directors... It got approved recently and now they're making improvements. According to their website, they'll start using .wav files and have two servers running automation and storing the files on their network. Very nice! I'm glad things for KXPW are looking up for the future! I hope they'll start streaming soon.

Here is their Wikipedia page which needs major updates to reflect the new format.

No updates on the website since October, so I hope they're still doing well... Tried to email them a few days ago to ask how they were, but no reply.
