106.7 Lite FM 24/7 Christmas Music Suggestion Thread

Yes, I know what you're thinking, it's only June, but it's not too early to start suggesting changes to the Christmas playlist. As much as we all love Christmas music, does anyone else think the playlist is a little too repetitive? Every year, they play Last Christmas, both Wham and Taylor Swift's versions literally every other hour. They play Jose Feliciano's Feliz Navidad like 100 times a day as well!! Also, when I want to hear Happy Xmas (War is Over), I want to hear John and Yoko, not Celine Dion's version constantly, although Sarah McLaughlin's version is pretty good. What do you guys think about this?

Usually at this time, they would be playing Mainstream AC and I just checked the website, they’re doing the usual Mainstream AC

I don't want to hear "Last Christmas" and I don't want to hear John or Yoko, much less Celine Dion or Sarah McLachlan

I'm quite certain that @DavidEduardo or @Kelly A will be by in just a moment to help you (as a ordinary listener...) understand that you have virtually no input on what this or any other radio station airs on any given day.

Those selections are specifically chosen to appeal to maximum listeners.

Ratings during the holiday season prove it time and time again.

Luck to you on your quest for audio nirvana. 🎼🎶🎶🎶

I mean, I'm sure they listen to feedback, because they stopped playing that Christmas Shoes song in recent years. They used to play Do They Know It's Christmas constantly, and even that seems to have been pushed to the side to where you rarely hear it, same with Dan Fogelberg's Same Auld Lang Syne. There are some songs that they didn't even play until Christmas Eve, like Elton John's Step Into Christmas.

And you think Lite FM is gonna end up finding your message here and actually take your suggestions? double LOL

Both songs remain popular on the other side of the pond, as evidenced by their regular appearances on the top 40 of the UK's Official Singles Chart during that season. However, that chart does not take radio airplay into account.

i can't imagine ANY radio station even looking at a message board these days!
I mean they have to get their feedback from somewhere, as I said the Christmas Shoes song, the saddest Christmas song and understandably one of the least popular songs, was taken out of the playlist

but they aint getting their feedback from a message board for radio geeks, who arent their target demo

I got some giggles and groans when I posted on an Oldies chat room the other night that WLTW began playing all-Christmas at midnight, into Memorial Day.

But it has to be true that sales staffs at WLTW and WBEB Philly have to be burning the midnight Nielsen oil .... but only in figuring how to pre-package this Season's fare for those ratings and revenues. But they won't need any other approaches . Nothing's gonna stop THOSE results.

Time is starting to tick, though. Fourth of July and Labor Day loom as harbringers.

I totally agree 100%. There are so many Christmas songs out there that get little if any airplay. Even though I start listening to Christmas Music on Nov. 1, I try to keep my listening to radio Christmas stations as little as possible because of how repetitive it gets. I mean, there's only so many times I can take Wham!'s "Last Christmas".

I can't take that one even once.
