Back in New Orleans, my former brothers at 106.7 (and sister-V.) won't be back in action until mid December... my question is that they just bought 106.1 before all this happened and they are simulcasting country on it for no profit, why not put 106.7 there until the transmitter site is back up? Just a thought.

It is a good question.

According to the FCC website, Citadel hasn't consummated the sale of 106.1 and 100.3 from Guaranty and Truck, respectively. It's been past the 90 days they have to consummate the sales, but obviously, the FCC probably gave them an extension due to the hurricane.

I'm guessing that the End is just not that important to Citadel? They'd rather wait another 1.5 months than move the format to 106.1 or 100.3?

Too bad, it'd be cool to have "The Zephyr" back.<P ID="signature">______________

Other than the fact it leaves people on the southshore without new rock (with the exception of scratchiness in Jeff parish and me on the bayou trying to pull 104.9 the x from BR over the talk? (from Biloxi I beleive)

My personal opinion is, since most of the people that 92.3 is trying to aim for ain't home yet (or can hear 103.3 really well) just think about moving the "diva" to 106.7 and move rock back to 92.3 that my friend would be more logical...

But then I hit myself in the head like the three stooges and realize, this is radio it doesn't have to make since for them to do it....

According to my information, Citadel had until last Thursday (10/28) to do the actual consumation on KLRZ and has until November 28 to file with the FCC.
There is NO callsign change on 106.1 and is still listed as WKSY with apparently no consumation of the sale (date it had to be bought by was 10/11) and to inform the FCC by November 11th.

I also didn't see anything from the FCC to allow for an extension..Looks like Citadel would have to refile to get those stations again.... But then with what happened in New Orleans, would they want to reinvest in the market?

If you will, another place has sort of confirmed the December date for "the End"

An article about the voodoo music fest this past weekend included comments from Sig that "Katrina destroyed the transmitter, and they will be off the air until at least December 15th"
