106.7 The Buzz

The format is languishing in the ratings. What format holes are there in Sac. that it could flip to? It looks like KCCL is in the same boat...

the buzz is 106.5.

Yes it's sucking but stations flip because of revenue not ratings.

KCCL is **** blocked by classic to move into the 80's. It can meander for a few more years in it's present format. It's a rimshot station and needs a niche format to market which it has.

however with the KMJE move in possibilities open up. Perhaps combine stations for better coverage but probably keep seperate for different demos sales revenue options.

Re: 106.5 The Buzz

They started out as "All-90's". Now it is a blend of "80's, 90's & Today".

A lot of speculation about the Buzz lately...they are almost Jack-esque with the expanded playlist. One minute "Another One Bites the Dust", next something from the Spice Girls. Hmmm. Can you say, "We don't really know what to put on this station anymore, so we're just going to play a bunch of random crap" programming? Wonder what 106 would sound like if Ed was still behind the wheel...

Well, Ed was never "behind the wheel" of 106.5. He was back in the garage concocting law suits while talented people were driving the bus. To answer the possibly rhetorical question, KWOD would today, as in the past, be the most interesting, innovative, irritating, unpredictable, horrific train wreck that you would not be able to tune away from radio station in the market.

Word is that The Buzz will go away Monday or Tuesday. What could Entercom do that doesn't conflict with 98 Rock, Radio 947, Eagle, and The End, and isn't already being done? Or would they over saturate in another format?

Entercom has several options here:
1.) They can switch Buzz to alternative and call it Radio 106-5, and flip 94.7 to smooth jazz, or
2.) They can create another rocker to compliment 98 Rock on 106.5 and tone down KKDO, rebranding as "Radio 94-7 version 2.0, Alternative Radio without Rules or DJs",
or
3.) Sell all the time to Rob Williams and air "best of Rob, Arnie, and Dawn" 24/7, flipping the calls to KRAD.

Either way I'm sure it will be a winner!

106.5 the buzz has dropped it's 90's format, and is now Rhythmic AC.

Even with the change, it's only redeeming factor remains "Subterranean" on Their hd-2 channel. Please leave that alone buzzuits.

Isn't KHYL-V101.1 "Rhythmic AC"? Does this mean that The Buzz will be competing against V101.1?

Listening to the Buzz this week, friends its a good old school (old fashion) radio station playing everything pop and R@B from 70's to today's recurrents, good jocks, keeping things simple its Fun, my Coworkers like it with no complaints
its curve ball to Mix and My - Congrats on a Good new station !

Did anyone else see that Monica Lowe is doing afternoons? And that the Morning slot is being hosted by The End's night guy... interesting
