106.7 The D, can it work?

106.7 the D has been on the air for 5 months now, and excluding a few months of the beat's run, it has higher ratings then the beat did. according to the release when 106.7 flipped, they are positioned between 94.7 and the 'RIF. so far, I must say that they have done a good job with some of the music that they mix in with the usual classic rock tracks that they play. but my question is this: over time can this station work for a few years or not? we all know 106.7 has had its share of format changes over the last 12 years, and this station sure has gained some steam lately. could this be the format that sticks on 106.7? be well and thanks for your replies.

Ratings are up and I'd assume the demos are a little more advertiser friendly than The Beat, so they've got that going for them. I'm very surprised this station is doing as well as it is considering how much classic rock is already in Detroit (94.7 and WRIF, which leans heavily towards classic rock). I'm gonna say it's got the best chance of anybody of being successful on 106.7

Also, don't forget about the classic rock that gets mixed in at 93.1, 93.9(which could be hurting them somewhat:different topic, different time), and 104.3 as well.

What I hope this station continues to do is spread out and find those songs that 94.7 or the 'RIF don't play-or play enough of, because to me, that's what i've liked about this station so far.

I think they are competing with WCSX. Lately, I've been noticing that WCSX is playing a wider variety of classic rock than ever before. So I think that 106.7 The D is giving WCSX a run for its money.

Also, WRIF is playing some classic rock music that I know you can hear on 94.7. So far, both 94.7 and WRIF still have nice ratings, but it has been impressive to see how 106.7 has gotten the ratings that they have so soon. Maybe 98.7 should have went ahead and brought the Wheelz format back.
