Except there are times when it can cost people their jobs - so not always a good thing.

True, but that's not the case today. If it isn't creating jobs, like DomRadio pointed out, it's probably not costing anyone a job.

You won't believe the times i have been on this board when a format flipped in a familiar city i've been with

-NY when WXRK flipped to CHR.
-LA when KSLX flipped from talk to CHR.
-Dallas when Cumulis flipped 93.3 to i93
-here at home (Houston) when Party 93.3 flipped back to spanish.
-Atlanta when 105.7 flipped to rythmic ac.

and right now.

It is a great time to be an aficionado of radio!!!

And, the new format is............

My Point is the station sounded like it belonged in a bigger market than SA...hands down! It was that good...but when your sales team can't cut the mustard then there went Power! Competition kickd ass across the street...was it because is sounded better or because their "sales team" is that damn good!...What Im getting at is if they gave it another round and RE VAMPED the whole sales department...Power/talent etc. would still be here today!

Well that is a great argument. Who sounded better Power or 98.5?

I was just like everyone else and switched back and forth. However, Power played some records they had no business playing. A real Hip Hop true Urban station will not play Black Eyed Peas. Or maybe some of the other records that you could find on pop stations such as Mix 96.1 Also a LOT of people argued that they over edited their music.

Fact of the matter is, Cox Radio is not likely to come in and clean house in the sales dept just so they can bring it back. I'm sorry man but it just isn't going to happen. Doing that isn't practical.

Now if Cox did decide to bring it back revamped, new, and fresh at the end of the day it would still be with the same sales people. They aren't going to go well out of their way and fire sales employees (who most likely sell on other stations in the cluster as well) just so they can come back strong with a fresh set of heads ready to sell it. I am not saying that has never happened elsewhere but.... let's face it. 106.7 on the FM dial hasn't had an enormous amount of success to where they would want to throw that kind of time and money into it.

My opinion....

I used to listen to Power 106.7 alot when they were on the air. I personally liked it alot better than The Beat. You said Power played stuff like the Black Eyed Peas that they shouldn't have. Thing is, 98.5 The Beat plays Black Eyed Peas and Justin Bieber. Now that sucks. Lol. and you mentioned over editing. I agree somewhat. The song Lollipop by Lil Wayne was so edited that they even took the word "Lollipop" out of it. However, I don't remeber them doing stuff like that to any other songs. I personally liked Power's playlist alot more than The Beat. It wasn't the same stuff over and over. They actually mixed it up alot and would play old and new Hip Hop.
I remember when Power flipped to Santa 106.7. I had just got into the car on the last day of school and I think Power either played Knock You Down or Love Lockdown and then it started making jingling noises for about 5 minutes but I was like "wtf??" so I didn't change the station.(I'd never heard a format flip before then). Then it was like "You are listening to the new Santa 106.7!" and I thought it was a joke at first. Haha
And btw, I'd rather have 106.7 be a rock format than a talk or River (wtf??) format.

Just my opinion.
