106.7 Translator In Newark is back on air ?

I was driving through Newark last night and the Translator that the Columbus board of Education had in Newark was back on the air, pumping out NPR programming, this was about 7 pm.

I couldn't get a good signal with out interference on 106.7 WCGX until i was almost in Pataskala on rt 16

Even with the Signal downgrade on WCGX isnt that too close for a translator on the same frequency?

The reason that may have been back on the air last September was to keep fire up the transmitter
in order to keep the license. They went silent about five years ago when WCGX went on the air.

As of a few days ago, I have heard WCBE announcing they are now operating at 106.3 in Newark.
So, WCBE got a CP to move its Newark translator from 106.7 to 106.3 last September.

Looks like the CP to move to 106.3 was approved in NOV so they should be on 106.3 now if they have finally moved and it sounds like they have.. This should help with their interference issues in Newark from WCGX.

Of course with their huge signal one has to wonder if 90.5 REALLY needs a translator in Newark. When I consulted out near Rushville I never had issues picking up 90.5 near Newark.

What is it with low-powered stations in Licking County taking swaths out of Columbus-area stations' coverage? 104.3, and now 106.7 (I know 104.3 is simulcast on 103.5, but my point stands). The FCC can't do anything about this?

Speaking of 106.7. Did WCGX ever move to campus?

This app from the FCC database shows October. Sounds about right to me.

Their viability in places like campus and the Short North improved a lot with that move. It probably accounts for some of their ratings improvement in February, although I'm surprised it wasn't sooner.
