106.7 WKOE

I'm assuming that Country WKOE (106.7 FM) in Cape May has been shut down. The website no longer exists. Not surprising since the signal did not cover much land area.

hahah Of course it hasn't been shut down. The signal isn't
as bad as you guys think, when it had a decent format (WDOX)
I listened to it all over, including Cumberland and up into Atlantic County.

It's not "Fun 106.7" (see the post about it on here)

fun1067.com

just goes to show that the guy who owns that place (coastal) can't make up his mind how to run radio...
maybe he learned from the guy who ran atlantic down the tubes.

Yes, it is "Fun 106.7" WFNE.

If you owned that signal, what would you do with it? It's the smallest commercial signal in the market ( http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FM186942.html ) and it's 40 miles from Atlantic City; ~30 miles from the population center of the market (Galloway/Absecon/EHT) Cape May County has too many radio stations as it is (7 class-A FMs as a start). It used to almost crack a 1.0 12+ as a religious station years ago (WJNN). You can't do AC, you really can't do sports, country didn't work, it would be the 4th rock station in the market, now it's the 4th oldies/classic hits station in the market... maybe a satellite news/talker with a B-list of hosts. You can't move it across the bay into Delaware (106.9 is down there), you can't really move it further north (WKDN, WBBO). It's almost to a point where the only thing that may work is an all-brokered format. (this is, in no way, a slam against Coastal or anyone there - it's a legit question of what would make that stick work as best it can)

If it had the signal it had yesterday morning all the time, it would have much better ratings. I was able to hear it 100 miles away.

Maybe it would be better suited to just become a truly local talk station. Hire some former politicians and business owners and let them talk about Cape May County. You could talk politics, outdoors, sports, dining, entertainment. Perhaps even throw in some standards music and run with it. I would have to say cater to an older crowd. It goes against traditional wisdom, but what other option is there? You have all the country choices you could ever imagine. Plenty of rock, and AC. For the big talkers you have WGMD from Lewes, De. Plenty of Sports talk too. Oh well, I don't own it so it really doesn't matter what I think....lol.

I listened for a while yesterday.
They are running the morning show from WCZT on both stations...again a brilliant move by the owner (not), that has to do be the worst morning show I have ever heard!
They have the same liner guy doing both stations.

Please someone with a bit of money buy those stations and do something (anything) other than what they do now.
Because, on the other hand, if run and programmed properly, they could be a very good small, county based pair of stations.
so UncleBozzle may be on to something there, because they currently seem to just care about news and politics.
just my 3 cents.

IMHO I think Country Classics 1952-1975 would be the format of choice for the area of coverage. Not the traditional new country bunk.....this format would work and can be fully automated....no other choice...Cheap, Easy and Effective...I know I would listen when in range :)

Even if they changed it to classic country (not bad idea in that area) they would not know how to program it.
I think they should just go talk and do news, because they think that is so important they have their main body of web site all news on both stations. We live and work in a 24/7 news gathering world. I can get news on my phone for crying out loud.
I was just listening and they went from the "Name Game" song to a Lynyrd Skynyrd song ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
They have the same jocks from the other station doing the VT's on this new station. The same liner guy, It just sounds like they just switched out the music...not good at all. Not much better than high school radio. IMO.
