106.7

At first, I was disappointed that 106.7 went to "adult CHR" (whatever that is!) a couple of weeks ago, instead of oldies, because I know that there is an "oldies gap" here in Nashville.  However, in retrospect, I am glad that they did not go oldies, because they wouldn't know what to do with it.  Cumulus has had six different formats on that frequency in the 11 years that they have had it.  Clearly, they don't know what they are doing there.  In light of their history there, I can't get too excited about anything they do with that frequency, because I know it won't last long.  But then again, I also can't be too disappointed about anything they do there, because again, I know they won't stick with it for very long!  ;D

It seems to me that any station that has had that many different formats in so short a time should be forced to surrender its license to the FCC, or sell it to someone who knows what they are doing with it.  (This won't happen, because stations can do many much worse things than merely being wishy-washy about programming decisions, and still be able to keep their license, and aside from that, it would be government intervention, which I'm against anyway.)  If they were to sell it, I would hope that they would not sell it to any other "C"-named company (Clear Channel, Citadel, Cromwell, etc.), because it's clear to me that most of them don't know what they are doing with their own frequencies, either.

I love their jingles and the fact that they play a handful of songs The River
doesn't. And when The River has his teenyboppers on Dawson McAllister calling with their
horrible problems, i-106 is playing music. But i-106 needs to get a few dj's in soon.
The reception is almost non-existent in the Brentwood/Maryland Farms area and
Old Hickory Blvd between Hwy-100 and the I-65 interchange. Still, comes in better than The Party,
Supertalk, The Buzz, and a few other stations.

Just curious, have you heard a legal ID yet? Are they still WNFN? Or are they something else now? It would be cool if their new calls turned out to be WEYE ("Eye 106"), but I'm sure those calls are probably taken.

They're still WNFN ..... makes no sense but they're are so many stations out there
with the calls not matching the moniker.

I strongly agree with firepoint525. In fact, I guarantee the only people that differ from this opinion/fact are the owners of these stations that continually run radio into the ground. Their opinion of themselves is "we have money, so that must mean we're doing something right". Before the economy took a dump, CC borrowed and bought and borrowed. Then they fired so they could borrow and buy again. This repeated and reverberated all over the nation, that in order for the other stations to compete (and borrow and buy), they had to commence to firings, too. Then CC filed bankruptcy. When a CEO increases his wealth 10 fold, how dare they take a pay cut! "Nooooo, let's get rid of the hard workers that we bought with that last loan. If we get rid of them, our namesake can continue to grow." And now they continually patch the holes of a sinking ship that for some has already gone under.

And the most interesting fact is - these are "business" people, who would have learned in Business 101 that if you grow your company too fast, you'll risk losing everything. If the parents of these CEO's gave them money to go to college, I hope the parents make the CEO's pay them back, with interest!

Proverbs 27:23-24 reads "Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations."
