106.9/107.5 delay

I have noticed that the audio on 107.5 is running about 1 second behind 106.9. Usually they are in synch. Strange. I wish Cox would put something else on 106.9. It is such a waste to be doing what they are
doing.

+1 on that. What a stupid move Cox did.

Cox's next step is to put the Eagle on every station they own in Houston. If this is deemed successful, it will done nationwide.

;D

The new amalgamated station is DOWN 0.4 share.

Fantastic job COX.

It's actually up .9 from KGLK's last month as a stand alone station. It's down .4 from its debut on both frequencies.

Got a pretty good laugh out of the quadcast logo. If this becomes the case it would remind one of the Sunny 107.3 pentacast of the Brazos Valley some years ago (it was on 107.3, 105.3, 94.1, 92.5, and 1090 at one point).

That would remind me of a quad cast of a CHR in Austria. IIRC it was called Hit FM or something. It was one three or four different frequencies in the country.

Nothing unusual there. In Europe there are many networks of formats running on numerous frequencies for regional/national coverage.

The playlist sucks! I don't know what they are trying to accomplish. Split personality between oldies, 60's / 70's classic rock, and 80 / 90's classic rock. The combination isn't very good, especially when the entire playlist seems to only be 400 songs that played into the ground. I getting burned out on their entire playlist, and so are a lot of people I know that used to listen. Putting the same thing on two frequencies is like spamming on the radio. The only worse offender is KSBJ that slams us with the same stuff on half a dozen frequencies.

Let's have some variety back on the dial! I'd love it if KGLK put their HD-2 oldies format on 106.9. Now that would be some of interest ---

I have an idea for their new slogan: - "KGLK, the eagle. The station that only plays the Eagles Hotel California". Now - for another 10,000 times, you guessed it: Hotel California!

Talk about ruining a good song by playing it into the ground! The only song I detest more from overplay is "Sugar Sugar", or maybe "You Light Up My Life".

So let's expand the KGLK format to all the stations in the country, and let them play "Hotel California" 24/7 from now on. I am sure the focus groups will support the change.

STATION APR MAY JUNE JULY AUG
------------------------------------------
KGLK 2.8 2.7 2.8 4.1 3.7
KHPT 1.5 1.6 1.3 --- ---
------------------------------------------
COMBINED 4.3 4.3 4.1 4.1 3.7

KHPT's decline in June was due to it's premature demise - who knows what the real share would have been, maybe 1.7.

Combined, COX has not gained any new share on these two frequencies. They have lost share. I predict they will probably lose even more share. This brings me great amusement.

Shameless plug in signature.

KGLK is way up compared to pre-simulcast. KHPT was going nowhere fast, and was actually declining.

I'd rather have one product with a 3.7 share than two products with a 2.8 and 1.3 respectively. Agencies don't go looking to buy 1.3 share radio stations, they only buy so deep. I'd be willing to bet almost anything the KGLK-KHPT combo is making more money than KGLK and KHPT combined when they were alone, and the bottom line is only number that really matters.

The 1.3 in June was because The Zone went away in the middle of the month. May was the last full month and it was up a bit compared to April.

As far as profitability goes - who knows.

Are you sure Arbitron kept rating The Zone after the 20th, registering zero listeners for the signal? If that were the case, I'd expect its AQH share to be much, much lower than a 1.3, seeing how that would account for 1/3 of the month. The station would have had to experience a phenomenal jump from the previous month's 1.6 share to mitigate 1/3rd of a month with 0.0 and still end up with 1.3.

A far more likely scenario is that Arbitron simply stopped rating KHPT on the 19th and the 1.3 share reflects its true listenership from start of month until its demise.
