106.9 Classical Music for ManchVegas

Missed this one because of all the hubbub over 'FNX...

W269BL Manchester is now on // 99.5 WCRB. Signal in the Manchester metro is very good, believe it is transmitting from the same tall bank building as the 97.9 translator for WOKQ with a power of 250W H & V. Not sure if this is the end of the story -- W269BL is owned by Great Eastern Radio, not WGBH and 99.5 comes in fine here, so I question the need for this. In my humble opinion, this frequency could be used for something else...

It looks like Great Eastern Radio is a commercial operator of stations in the “Upper Valley” (isn’t that an oxymoron?) area of New Hampshire. So what is the reason for them running a translator for a non-com? My guess (emphasis on guess) is that this is just for test purposes, that the eventual plan is for this translator to carry one of their other signals.

I believe he also owns 89.5 WNCK Nantucket, which is also a simulcast of WCRB.

He also owns WTPL 107.7 - Hillsborogh and is buying two stations in the Concord/Lakes Region market. I know one of them is WWHQ, Meredith.

This just gets more and more interesting.. WWHQ 101.5 Meredith (and WNNH 99.1 Henniker) are also airing classical music -- from the Maine-based WBACH network.
If you are a classical music fan in the Manchester/Concord area of New Hampshire, life is pretty good right now; "Classical New England" on 99.5 & 106.9, WBACH on 99.1 & 101.5, and "Classical NH" on 91.5 & 89.1 HD2 Concord.

Actually, I could see BOTH 106.9 TX Manchester and 101.5 Meredith as WTPL simulcasts....107.7 is spotty in Manchvegas and spotty in the Lakes as well...This would actually make sense fro the Great Eastern WTPL perspective....

Sorry Classical folks...

I've always thought the 99.1/101.5 classical duo was temporary, now with the sale it most likely will be blown up. WBACH in Maine might be too with 104.7 in Kennebunk getting spun off, I doubt classical could survive on the Rockland & MDI signals.
