Perhaps it should be pointed out again that Mancow isn't being syndicated by Infinity, and, beyond that, the person talking most about Mancow replacing Howard in some markets has been Mancow himself.
That being said, Mancow will be starting in at least two new markets this Monday (October 3): Fresno (Clear Channel's KRZR) and Springfield, MO (KZRQ). Once again, huge first-tier markets. (Snicker.)
If 106.9 is planning to launch this Monday, you'd think that they would want to at least "accidentally" leak some info to the media so that they could get one or two listeners tuning in. Maybe a billboard or two, and a TV commercial ... perhaps even a few teaser promos on Alice and Live 105.
Or maybe they'll actually launch it real quick and stealth-like, and then spend the next six to eight months tweaking and fine-tuning it, which seems to be the way it's done these days.
