106.9 Free FM? "Radio Mutiny"? Something's Up

During one of the past 106.9 threads, someone commented that Infinity had registered a bunch of "Free FM" domains that corresponded to stations that would have serious problems following the demise of Stern (1059freefm.com for Chicago, 923freefm.com for New York).

Right now, all of them are directing to a flash picture of the Golden Gate Bridge with a pirate flag on it. Clicking on the skull and bones directs you to a survey asking what format you would like to hear on 106.9.

The title of the pages is "Radio Mutany". Could stunting begin soon, under this name? I'd think so. Check it out for yourself: http://www.familyradio.com/english/connect/technical/announcement.html

Looks like someone FINALLY has something with an ounce of truth to report on this board.

Great catch, JustinT. Unfortunately, at 4:15 PM on Sunday, I'm not getting the picture on my monitor. Must be something wrong with my antenna...

Note that the corresponding RadioMutiny.com domain name was only registered last Monday (Oct. 10). It doesn't show CBS as the registrant, however. Perhaps a squatter got hold of it?

If you view the HTML source, you will find this interesting meta tag:
{META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="STUNT - San Francisco,CA,Home"}

and one of the stylesheets is called "http://WWW.1069FREEFM.COM/static/css/stunt.css"

Looks like some sort of stunt is going to happen.

They've taken away the flash graphic. Perhaps someone in Infinity's IT department reads the Radio-Info boards?

Here's the link to the survey. It still works: <a target="_blank" href=http://itm2106.com/skin/form.php?formId=547>http://itm2106.com/skin/form.php?formId=547</a>. Note the very "blah" suggestions for formats, Classic Rock, Hip Hop/R&B, Smooth Jazz, Country, and Talk. San Francisco lacks only a Country station out of this selection, to my knowledge.

Either way, if Infinity does launch a station as "Free FM" in San Francisco, it could easily become a precedent for other ex-Stern stations.

Re: Link to Mutiny Radio survey

Try your hacking skills... not too much to it... just adjust the last number in the "http://itm2106.com/skin/form.php?formId=547" up or down and you'll see tons of forms for other stations and companies...

ie:
http://itm2106.com/skin/form.php?formId=546
http://itm2106.com/skin/form.php?formId=545
http://itm2106.com/skin/form.php?formId=544
http://itm2106.com/skin/form.php?formId=548
http://itm2106.com/skin/form.php?formId=549

etc...
