106.9 KFRC - (KCBS-FM)

Based on the PPM number do people stick to the AM station of KCBS vs. FM. I know a lot of people still listen to KCBS on AM 740 vs. FM 106.9. Since FM KCBS simucast doesn't do very well in the PPM numbers. Will CBS Radio change formats back to music?

E dawg...there is no way to know how many people are listening to the FM. It's combined with the AM and ONLY the AM is listed. ARBITRON does not breakout the simulcast partners in PPM. . Overall, its contributed greatly to the station, as KCBS is top 3 25-54 now...major in the money. Before the FM simulcast, the AM alone was usually just inside the top 10...so the AM/FM combo is a big win for KCBS. KFOG is the same way, you only see it listed as KFOG. There is no way to know contribution the San Jose signal adds to the final number.

As raydioheadfm suggested, the increase of about 6 rank positions in 25-54 is sufficient for the simulcast to be considered an amazing and significant success.

Stations that simulcast may opt for single line reporting (all simulcasts added) or individual reporting. For sales purposes, it is vastly better to have one number than several, as many media buyers would otherwise not know to add the stations in a simulcast.

When I'm back home in the Bay Area I tend to listen to 106.9 more then 740 only because FM sounds better than AM. But of course there is fading in and out and then I listen to 740. I live in San Diego so I have to listen to 740 at night!
