Las Vegas 106.9 The Bomb

I'm not local, and I decided to stream The Bomb today. I heard imaging that mentioned "without the commercials." Is this all the time? Or are they just making commercial free claims any time they're playing music (like some stations seem to do these days)?

And why doesn't this station do better in the ratings? Is it a signal issue? Is it inferior programming compared to Q100.5? Something else?

The answer is yes. KXQQ has a full-market signal, a larger budget, and stronger programming. KVGQ, on the other hand, is a rimshot signal that does not adequately cover the entire metro and presumably operates with a very limited programming budget. My guess is that the lack of commercials on KVGQ is simply because the station has few advertisers.

Ironically, a few years ago, I remember hearing 106.9 somehow reach very far into Arizona, along US 93, very good signal for many miles, into Golden Valley, and til about Coyote Pass, fading just a few miles before Kingman, but that's many miles further than/after the other main Vegas signals fade out near Hoover Dam.
🏜️ 📻
105.7 KOAS & 107.9 KVGS broadcast from close to that area, but their signal is terrain blocked & shielded from/into Golden Valley & much of Kingman, but KVGQ signal did much better from further away, perhaps a good line of sight over a large part of Lake Mead.🤷‍♂️
