106.9 The Eagle no longer "New"

106.9 is like new again. 70's based hits and classic rock/AOR swing from the 80's.Just heard a scorpions tune, not rock me like a hurricane, but nobody like you etc.Notice more classic hit stations are swinging this way.

With apologies to CBS 42's news department, "it's about time."

So now we know how long a station is new… oh wait nevermind, it's been so long I've forgotten when they debuted. ;)

The Point became the Eagle in 2005. Didn't 97-7 get peachy in '07?

January 06 according to my history page for WHPH.

I know stations are supposed to hammer their branding into our skulls as much as possible, but surely 6 years is too long to be calling the station "new". These days, six years is closing in on heritage!

The only station I know of that was "new" longer than that was "The New 102-5 The Bull." They were new from February 2003 until 2010. They may still be calling themselves new. Anyone know if they still are?

RE:977 the Peach

The reason it is appropriate to say "new" is that it sounds new compared to the rest of the area. Fun, interesting and minus the fake laughter. The programming leaves the "Christmas magic" team in the dust. Watch the little station roar.

Yes, Virginia, there is radio in Alabama areas other than Dothan.
