106.9 Yakima flips from rock to Crusin' Oldies

At first 106.9 sounded like somebody's personal record collection...someone with eclectic tastes in old music. Today even if they are more mainstream and hit oriented it is still unique to even have a 50s-early 70s oldies station.

Yes there is a huge hole for a classic hits station in Tri-Cities. I can't believe the local operators don't see it. Or perhaps they have no decision making ability on format choice. If so, that is sad.
 
I might have overstated how mainstream they are. Yes they added a lot of big familiar hits. But they also added lot's of off the wall songs that radio hasn't played in decades. They have a huge library. I listen quite often in the car and rarely hear the same songs. There are always surprises. Today i heard them play Coven-One Tin Soldier....a children's song by a satanic band. You never know what they will play, they seem to play every old song that ever charted. As a deep music fan it is really enjoyable to me.
