106.9?

Could Infinity be going back to the past? Could the format wheel land on AOR/Free Form for 106.9?

It seems this past week, there has been a Rachel Donahue sighting inside the halls of Infinity at Battery and Broadway. She has the lineage and cred to return to SF an AOR/Free form Rock station.

Would Infinity let her do the job correctly?

Infinity? Are you kidding? Although it would be cool to hear some real AOR/Free Form Rock again! And remember nothing happens until the A's season is over.

a friend of mine is taking part in a radio focus group this week -- over 100 women apx late '30s to 50, listening to song snippets and being asked questions like "would you listen to a station that played a wide variety of '70s '80s & some '90s?" Hard to tell if it was Bonneville looking to tweak MAX, or Infinity trying to decide what to do with 106.9...

Well ... technically that's October - but I think the A's "season" ended already.

I thought they were going to be able to take over once they get San Jose in a trust.

As has been noted in practically every 106.9 thread since the sale was announced (including this one now), there is a clause in the sales agreement that Family continues to operate 106.9 until the A's broadcast game schedule on 610 is over.

Image and cred? With who? A small group of 55+ year old hippies? If it was your money, your $70,000,000 investement, would you hand the programming over to Rachel Donahue to do free form/AOR? I doubt it. Infinity already has several weak and under performing stations. Why would they start another one?

I agree!

The A's were over in April. Are they still 610?? What a combo?

The contracts with the advertisers are valid until the official end of the baseball season. The fact that the A's have no chance at post-season doesn't change those commitments.

106.9 Doesn't Go To Infinity's Control Until After A's Season

Heck, I've posted this myself at least three times. :D

If the sale is approved, which won't happen until after the two San Jose stations are approved for transfer to the trust, Family will actually be LMAing its then-former station (KEAR/106.9) and not changing the programming on it, until the end of the A's season. The day after the last out in the A's season is the day Infinity can take over programming 106.9, and not an out before. ;)

So how long until it is approved by the FCC? My guess is just in time for the
last A's out!
