With all these threads about 106.9 I feel the need to mention the obvious.
106.9 transmits from the Jersey side of the river and from only 550 feet up - this is in stark contrast to stations like WYSP at the antenna farm over 1,100 feet up.
106.9 has to contend with 50,000 watt (equivalent) WMHX only about 75 miles west of Philly on 106.7.
106.9 is a scant 65 miles from 6,000 watt (equivalent) WWZY from Long Branch, and they have a mutual interference deal which s[ecifically allows 107.1 to step on 106.9's signal. (see: https://licensing.fcc.gov/cdbs/CDBS...?appn=101019856&qnum=5280©num=1&exhcnum=5)
106.9 is not a perfect solution for anyone wanting full-market FM coverage.
