My understanding is that 840 is for sale. Just clean up the audio chain and it would be a impressive station.

It's been for sale for years.
Rama Communications offered Ed Shifflett $400,000 for 840 AM and was turned down.

The automation, voice-trackihg and spots sound like a high-school on-line radio project. Just a few weeks it was polished. What happened?

jmtillery said:How long ago was that? I spoke with someone last week who is directly involved (Not Ed Shifflett) with the station who quoted me a price much less than $400,000. Perhaps some "wires" have been "crossed". If he actually wants more than $400k, it isn't worth it to me.

I know WIXC is protecting co-channel KYW in Philly at night, but I have no idea who they were/are protecting during the day.

I would think they have to protect WKII 1070 Solana and their own 1080 in Kissimmee to some extent.

Those two stations may have something to do with the reason 1060 is directional now, but 1060 was directional long before either of the other two stations went on the air, so I'm sure there's another station somewhere that 1060 is protecting during the day. Another possibilty would be that 1060 previously wasn't protecting anyone but chose to be directional possibly to get a better signal pattern over the desired market area, much the same as some of the directional AMs in Miami. But, then again, that is just a guess on my part.
