1060 WIXC - Changes

BTW, anyone know why I'm hearing the ESPN tags on WIXC these days? Heard it this evening, with a baseball game on the air. Are they returning to their ESPN format? I thought Cumulus had ESPN locked up in Brevard with 1560AM...

I think they are carrying Sunday Night Baseball from ESPN and maybe the World Series
1560 and as of now 95.9 also have Baseball from ESPN but rumors (unconfirmed) are out that Cumulus is about to be sold and that format changes will come soon (Maybe)

When you say rumors are that Cumulus is about to be sold, are you refering solely to the Cumulus group in Brevard or are you refering to the entire company?

Well, some people have said, CBS is a bunch of Cox, is this what they meant?

I have no idea what they meant. This is why I asked the question, for clarification in case I missed something.

True story: a very financially capable potential buyer is/was interested in buying this station. Inquiry was made to Bruce Maduri as to what it would take. The answer? "Make me an offer". Potential buyer has lost interest for now, based on the response to the inquiry.

So, the station seems to definitely not be for sale. Amazing, but true. From a very knowlegable principle source.

Well the station is like a car wreck right now - everyone is looking at it and talking about it, but it is not looking too good. Bad news always draws the most views.

The . 7 in the fall is gone...now no ratings..
The Beach is the fifth station in the market.
And the two countrys are 1 and 2..which says sample issues.
And automated middays don't cut it if they are not local..which explains light rocks drop.

The Beach is #3 -12+ in the Melbourne-Titusville-Cocoa Metro in the Spring book.

it appears that Liz is totally out at 1060, no more coffee talk

Can't be anything new...now that Liz is gone there are NO listeners left. You can only listen to colon cleansing, coffee enemas, and gold buying informercials for so long and then you HAVE to move up (or down) the dial. I know BM needs the revenue BAD, but when he is going to realize that viable programming that appeals to both sets of clients...the listener AND the advertiser, is the only way to get any type of consistant revenue?

I can't believe he's still hanging on to that station! ::)
