1067 True Oldies Website

This website is now up and running! I love the large playlist that WYAY-FM Oldies 106.7 has! Alot better than Cool 105.7 and Fox 97! I think that it is the best radio station in metro Atlanta!

If only it were programmed in metro Atlanta instead of Scott Shannon's basement.

A locally programmed oldies station would not be a good business model. Its about how much money a station can make and when advertisers dont want to spend money for older demos. Streamlining the oldies format gives a better chance for survival.

And it would suck just as much as the other "local" stations, because some self proclaimed programming genius who attended a couple of weekend seminars would tamper with the playlist and turn it back into Fox, with predictable results. Scott Shannon knows what he's doing, which is more than I can say for some of this board's contributors.

Uh,,,, Hmmmm, That post does indeed hit home..

This is an interesting point because of the recent track record that local programers of Metro Atlanta radio stations have had on Fox 97 and Cool 105.7. The Atlanta area did have some Oldies gems such as Oldies Lake 102 FM and Sunny 100-WNSY. However, Fox and Cool were examples of corporate radio gone amuck. Fox 97 became all Oldies in 1987. They had a large playlist for a number of years. In the late 1990`s, it was sliced down. Lake 102 had a HUGE Oldies library and took requests 24 hours a day. Lake 102 would play anything that a caller requested-if they had it and if the d.j. could find it-as they had records, tape, c.d.`s and songs on the computer! The real blow to Fox 97 occued when Cox Radio bought them in 2000. Things were never the same. Cox radio really ------ up the playlist-made it about 97 songs and got rid of people like J.J. Jackson and Bob Bailey. Yes, True Oldies 106.7 is programmed much better!

True Oldies 106.7 is programmed much better!

The best oldie station Atlanta has ever had, minus sunny and lake.

97.1 needs to dry up, it is an complete and utter disaster, why can't COX figure this out. I mean the Eagle in Bham, same format is much better.

I hear that nationally the ratings for True Oldies are fantastic! They have really been adding ALOT of stations. It is nice that True Oldies 106.7 is live and local in the afternoons also. I look for them to add some live and local weekend shows also soon. And I agree that 97.1 The River sounds dried up. How can Cox Radio leave that dribble on 97.1, in my opinion, of course.

More live local talent could be happening on True Oldies including weekends. Keep listening! ;D

Will you be on there, AL?

Well fellow radio buddy,(I know who you are lip) that would be nice to be able to play music you actually like and grew up with like yourself lip. I certainly would not turn down the offer. ;)

Wasn`t Big Al Hardee on Oldies Lake 102 at one time? :D

I heard that B.B. Murray might be coming to True Oldies 106.7. B.B. did nights on Fox 97 for many years. He is a great guy and knows his Oldies!
