Brent, I know lots of stations that take requests. It's not that big of a deal.
I'm sorry...hope I didn't spoil your infatuation with WYAY. :
I know, but it was during a commercial break, and it was played immediately after the commercial's were over, not 2 hours later.
Sounded like real local radio.
Brent, Dont fret when people give you the business over oldies. I like the new format too. There are just some folks who dont understand that all genres of music and audiences need to be served. Not just rock and REDNECK country.
Im very happy that Atlanta has one less country station, in fact when we get down to one it will be a day of celebration. When I got into radio the first format I worked was country, and I hated it.. It was 1980. I learned to enjoy the music and before long I found lots of songs I really liked. As I aged the 70s and 80s country became one of my fave type of music. BUT, I think the change is refreshing and I hope that IMUS and True Oldies get great ratings books. I know that were in the south and its a popular format but for god sakes it isnt the only type of music. Enjoy your new format and lets hope that soon programmers realize that more than one type of format will work if done well and trying different approaches will enhance how you and I spend our time flippin thru the dial. Now, how a bout some Standards... That would be a neat thing to hear even if its on a AM frequency like WGUN. Instead of the Train Wreck mish mash programming that currently exists over there.
