107.1 seeks another upgrade

WSTH just filed an application to move to the WCCV tower which will allow WSTH to put a 60dbu signal over most of west metro. It has to pull its signal away from 106.9 Homewood/Birmingham and 107.3 Columbus but neither impacts Atlanta coverage. I am going to wee how much 94.5 Calhohn is hurting the proposed 94.5 Atlanta upgrade.

This isn't 10 miles SSW of their existing stick...and they have a current CP to go to a full 100k (nondirectional) on it at the same HAAT. What does this get them (above and beyond the existing CP)? Do they plan on going higher? The WCCV antenna is almost 2x as high as WTSH's.

I can see the benefit of the move if they are doing higher HAAT, as much power as 107.5 will allow, and a big null to the WSW.

Do you have a link to the app?

That would be an improvement over the CP...they would be going to the top of the WCCV stick (or at least as high as WCCV--almost 2x current HAAT), full 100K, a moderate null towards Birmingham and a smaller one towards Columbus (both WBPT 106.9 and WCGQ 107.3 are big ol' 100k C0s). Both the app and the existing CP have WTSH going from C2 to C1.

FWIW, this would stymie any move-in by 106.7, at least as a full nondirectional class C, with only 7 miles of clearance. This new contour shoehorns in next to 107.5's new Gwinnett Is Great contour with just over a mile and a half of clearance.

Maps of the proposed contour are here: https://licensing.fcc.gov/cdbs/CDBS...?appn=101498293&qnum=5330&copynum=1&exhcnum=1

I really have a stupid question but hasn't this always been listed under radio-locator under CP or was that upgrade completed and we are expecting yet another upgrade. I'm a little confused.

Radio locator is not the most reliable source for facility information, i use it as a tool for my radio station lists and formats for over 300 "markets" nationwide but the FCC website is the most accurate source for facility info. According the fcc fm query, 107.1 WTSH has a CP issued for Aarogon and 100kw at 188m HAAT so I assume it was just a CP that allowed this change to be applied for which would give it a 100 more meters HAAT. I say that since the application was filed today that the new APP will appear on the FCC's FM query later today. Right now i check the FCC's CDBS database mulitiple times a day across the Southeast so i see the applications pretty quickly after being filed. Ive been watching to see more Apps to explain why 93.7 in Macon is seeking a major downgrade. Also the FCC Fm query is showing the corrected 60dbu signal proposal for 94.5fm

107.1 WTSH could not go to 100k until 107.5 went live at the new tower. That is part of the CP. I noticed improved reception on 107.1 in Buckhead a couple of days after 107.5 moved to the new tower. So, I assume they were ready for the raise in power.

Someone had mentioned here a while back that the plan was to move the tower closer to Atlanta as soon as WTSH went live with 100k. Apparently this is all part of a plan to move in closer to Atlanta. I seem to remember there is another step planned for after this new application.

I am too lazy to search for the thread since it was a year or more ago. :)
