107.3 gets complicated in Charleston

WMCD 107.3 Claxton Georgia has just applied to move to Sullivan's Island South Carolina to cover the Charleston market with a C2 signal. Despite the fact that WMGL has a construction permit for 107.3 with an improved Chareston market signal and an application to upgrade that signal further as a C2. Obviously there will be a correction coming in one of the applications coming. I just thought that with the WMGL move to 107.3 permit issued that a competing application wouldnt even be accepted.

I think the FCC will accept anything "For Filing" if they can get a fee on it. I can assure you this probably will not effect WMGL as they already have a CP for 107.3 and a simple application will do nothing to revert the FCC's decision.

So yeah, I don't know who's idea it was to try and get WMCD to Charleston, but the FCC and plenty of broadcast engineers are more than happy to take their money. :p
