Next time I drive to Bristol, I'm gonna see how 107.3 comes in along the way from Bensalem on a Lexus RX-350.
Seems to me from what radio-locator shows that it should be good enough.
John
Any idea if they will take 107.3 and make it FM stereo rather than the mono feed it is now?
It also sounds like the on-air chain for the FM fees off the AM rather than the FM having its own different airh chain.
They a better signal coverage in mono than stereo. The same mono signal is being used by KYW 103.9. If you can get to a HD radio KYW sounds great in stereo at 94.1 HD-2.

I've heard KYW in HD. its a different sound then mono for sure.

It's been a long time, some where I read a mono signal travels further than a stereo signal. The old WWDB was mono till they flip to Friday's with Frank. The mono signal could reach into Lehigh Valley.
Absolutely true, though I think it has more to do with the elimination of the stereo hiss rather than the signal actually going further, though I could be wrong.
I think in one regard, since mono eliminates that hiss, it sounds clearer further away. Secondly, since it's more efficient and utilizes all its wattage with just one carrier rather than what FM Stereo requires, the signal probably does physically travel further than FM stereo would. Though, again, I'm just guessing with what I know already.
