107.5 The Game

WNKT 107.5 The Game (Columbia) has been on the air for a little over a year now. Citadel signed the big contracts for an all exclusive deal for Gamecock sports on 107.5. Is Citadel billing well from this station considering the ratings have been at a 1 share just as WZMJ 93.1? Please enlighten me on this. This is a great station with local talent included with the syndicated Fox Sports programming. Just how well is WNKT actually doing after a year?

What I never understood is in a city that has a dearth of C2 & above signals, why sports was put on one of them? I know, the idea was to attract USC over there from B. Whatever. At the end of the day, as long as USC is getting paid & the games are getting out on a large signal, I can't imagine they'd care less what the programming was during the rest of the time.

As 93.1 appears to be pulling in the same shares, this solidifies my argument.

In the Spring book, WNKT was #1 or #2 with Men in all their live dayparts. The 12+ numbers are deceiving. Also "The Game" is already the #2 biller in the Citadel Columbia cluster. Anyone with a sports station will tell you, you don't need big numbers to make money. The station is a big hit with the advertisers and the loyal "men with money" listeners that the format draws.

From what I have seen and heard here in the Columbia area, it has a really good following and can definitely believe that it is the number two biller in the Columbia cluster right behind WTCB.

Brent Johnson did a really good job putting the station together and it shows what really good local talent that they have and I like the fact that it is more local than antional, but the national stuff is really good too.
