107.5 The River

What are your opinions on "The River"? The station has been relatively stable for ten years (talent wise), but isn't where it once was. Even with the current PD, the station did considerably better in the "books" back around his arrival. I've heard from some sources on Music Row that within the city and 'burbs, I-106 has begun to make some small inroads into "The Rivers" listener ship. Anyone heard about this and if so, what do you think will become of it?

Lineup includes;

Mornings: Woody & Jim (with god awful Adam) (Adam is the PD's nephew ironically)
Late Morning: Ryan Seacrest (gag me)
Early Afternoon: Madison (voice tracked out of Birmingham, AL)
Drive: Ryno
Evenings: Butter (gag me)

I like The River... most times... I listened ti i106 when I first moved here in Nov. 2009, but quickly grew tired of them.. I don't like their tight play list, and their puny signal, which for me started to fade out right around the 'Boro. FWIW, your lineup is a little backwards.. Madison is on in the late morning (9-11) and then its Seacreat, followed by Ryno. Just a small nitpik :p

Ryno is OK... Butter is just....annoying...

I like Woody and Jim, the Gender Wars game ..also listen to Intern Adam's 57 seconds of sleeze.
Cannot STAND "what's down Butter's Britches" and Dawson McAllister They should move that depressing teenybopper talk show online or over to Way FM.
Refuse to listen to Ryan Seacrest. He needs to go away.
I love how they still "speed up" records ...reminds me of Y-107 from the 80's-90's.

Yeah sorry about the lineup flip-flop. LOL!!! I was fixing to eat supper and had food on my mind at that moment.

Or any station I worked in the 70's. Speed enhancing works. Makes your station sound more lively. I'd speed enhance if I were programming classical

Everyone is entitled to their opinion...so here's mine. The River has to be one of the best CHR/Top 40's in the country, probably one of the best if not the best that Clear Channel owns. There's a reason they've been consistent all these years, and that’s because they win. Have you even listened to the station? You talk about Y107 in its heyday so I know you’re all older than 45. Look take off the talent, get rid of music and commercials and you have the best imaged station on the dial.

On to their people now.... PD Rich Davis - I have a friend who is a record rep that's had plenty of dealings with Rich over many years. Rich is one of the most respected PD's in the industry. He makes a move, and stations around the country follow suit. He also knows the caliber of his talent and lets them do their jobs another reason none of the local talent has been there less than 8 years now... Woody and Jim are extremely funny, and very quick. Adam is one of the biggest DJ's on the station, and he's not technically a DJ, furthermore with a bi line that says anything about theater of the mind, would know he's not actually the boss' nephew either - oh the irony. Also yes Madison is tracked out of Birmingham and the regular listener never has a clue and her 2 hours on the air have been consistently spot on for years, but why? Because she's great at what she does. Seacrest is Seacrest, national show brought local. No where else can you get some of the biggest names who are making news on your radio on a daily basis. There's a reason he's the hardest working man in showbiz! Now to Ryno, Ive only had the pleasure of meeting him (the only one on staff Ive met) once accidentally at a remote. Top notch talent, regardless of how ridiculously nice he was to me. Butter is the night guy, and from what I understand the only person on the fulltime staff that's actually from Nashville. Apparently he grew up listening to Y107 as a child, now he's living his dream (jealous much?!) plus his show and music are right in the pocket for his NOT so limited demo at night. Yea What's Down Butter's Britches isnt for everybody, but when you call and get "all circuits are busy now" you're doing something right.

Yea you can call me a fan, and yes I’ve done a little radio in my life, so I listen a little differently than the average listener. I can assure you this, I’m not doing radio now, however my radio is always and will continue to be locked on 1075 The River. Plus they have commercial free hours now, that just cant be beat!!!

Another example of the success of The River, Clear Channel duplicated the format on one of their Milwaukee stations, 97.3 Radio Now. Being from Milwaukee, I'll listen to Milwaukee stations online occasionally. Radio Now is almost a exact duplicate..Pretty much the same imaging, etc. It is also, from what I hear, programmed by Rich Davis.
