107.7/Austin History

Before it became La Jefa, I know there was the "K-NAC" era, as well as "The End". What else was on that frequency? (Btw, I heard a legal ID for KTND from November 2002. What format was on at that time?)

Hi ksradiogeek,

Here is what I have in my radio history database for 107.7 in Austin ...
KJWL-FM 12-Sep-89 The station started out with the call sign KJWL in September, 1989
KNNC-FM 04-Nov-91 In 1991 the call letters were changed to KNNC
KAHK-FM 14-Nov-97 Call Letters then changed to KAHK in 1997
KTND-FM 05-Feb-01 The calls were then changed to KTND in 2001 after the station changed formats from 80's hits to Adult Alternative
KTND-FM 30-Oct-02 Format is now Adult Altern. from 80s Hits
KINV-FM 03-Apr-03 Call Letters change to KINVFM from KTNDFM
KINV-FM 09-Apr-03 In 2003 the station was purchased by Univision Radio from Simmon's Media. The call letters were changed to KINV, and the radio station started broadcasting a Spanish oldies format.
KINV-FM 15-Apr-03 KINV 107.7 Georgetown/Austin TX is regional Mexican "La Invasora" with slogan as La Invasora 1077 from The End
KINV-FM 05-Apr-04 Owner is now Univision Radio from Simmons Media
KINV-FM 06-Mar-06 KINV 107.7 Georgetown/Austin TX flips from regional Mexican "La Invasora" to Spanish oldies "Recuerdo."
KINV-FM 27-Mar-07 Owner is now Univision/Broadcasting Media Partners from Univision Radio
KHZS-FM 28-Sep-08 KINV 107.7 Georgetown/Austin TX flips from "Recuerdo" Spanish adult hits to "Hitz FM" Spanish top 40, with new calls KHZS.
KHZS-FM 22-Oct-09 KHHL 98.9 Leander/Austin TX and KXBT 104.9 Dripping Springs/Austin TX swap calls; meanwhile, competitor KHZS 107.7 Georgetown/Austin TX segues to regional Mexican as "La Jefa," ditching Spanish top 40 "Hitz FM."
KLJA-FM 29-Oct-09 Calls are now KLJAFM from KHZSFM

There are gaps I know but it's what I have found to date, there may be others on this list that can fill in some gaps or updates.

This Georgetown station has always had problems making a dent in the Austin ratings because of its rimshot status.
It can't throw any more signal toward Austin because of its proximity to class C0 KXTN San Antonio on 107.5.
