107.7 spin radio

107.7 spin radio is officially off the airwaves a simulcast of cat country now airs on that signal. There is no station in the Leigh region playing new active rock. I wonder Harrisburg’s the x and 103.3 the edge from buffalo is in danger. I know Allentown is a different market but I found it worth mentioning

You mean 107.1.

The idea makes sense ... to extend the most popular format in radio up into an area that doesn't get a clear country signal (the Poconos). It's still disappointing though.

Yeah, I did enjoy listening to Spin any time I went up that way (usually on the WODE-HD2 signal since that thing carried well.) Does anyone know if it'll still exist as WODE-HD2, or if it's completely gone for good?

This is the third time around for country on 107.1. It was a stand-alone country station trying to be the 'official country station of the Lehigh Valley' (although the signal was weak in many areas) before WCTO came along in 1997, then it became part of the 107.1 'Y-107' quadcast with 4 stations on 107.1 surrounding the outskirts of New York City aimed at the New York audience (not really referencing the Poconos or Lehigh Valley) & now the simulcast of WCTO. This actually has the best chance of doing well since most of whatever audience they pick up will be regular listeners to Cat Country finding a better signal than 96.1 in their location. The Poconos always seemed like a good market for country but never had a strong signal station in the area until both 106.3 & 107.1 were country in the early 1990's. (Except a brief attempt by then-WVPO-FM Stroudsburg to do some 'progressive country' programming in the late 1970's). I did a country show on the local college station in the early '70's and it was the only country on local radio. You could get very weak signals on AM in the daytime from WGBI Scranton, WHOL Allentown & WCRV Washington, NJ & sometimes WHN New York but that was about it.
