does this ring familiar, "meet the new boss, same as the old boss"?
thee end will still not be good.

Man, I feel for Seattle.

The Kaplan+Lazlo team is quite possibly the worst thing for that city. Why can't people like this end up in places like Delaware?

"Delaware. We're in uh, Delaware". "Yeah."

As someone who listens to Lazlo's show now, and listened in KC (the show is broadcast in KC from 4 to 8), here are some notes

1) Lazlo wasn't from KC either (but from Detroit). Slimfast is the only one of those three from the KC area.
2) Sending Slimfast out as the ambassador was probably a bad idea, since he's not exactly a charming radio personality or a charming person. He's not a bad person, just a bit socially inept. Granted, Afentra and Lazlo weren't exactly able to do a lot of travelling outside of the studio in 2007 (due to pregnancy, and habit)
3) Parts of the show are way too structured and repetitive ("Got Issues" being one). Having the exact same sort of opening routine (body count, news) probably doesn't help a lot. Afentra's KC experience was in the Morning, if that explains anything about how she alters the pace there
4) They should probably Slimfast out to do some more live things. Other than taxi driver/homeless person segments. Or photos for his 'website'. Something else to expose him to the risk of jail.
5) Openly stating a lack of desire to assimilate probably doesn't help things, no matter how true it is
6) There were a lot more arguments and unintentionally interesting callers in KC. But perhaps that's a demographic thing, or Lazlo drove those people off quickly. Maybe there aren't as many people calling from local jails in Washington state to the show.
7) As noted, the show is broadcast in KC, because the station just couldn't fit anybody else into the afternoon spot.

There's a clear difference. It's probably like a baseball player who sucks, and then tries to do too much to correct that. Instead of being more loose and comfortable.

As for the actual music. I can't totally speak for Seattle outside of the CoL, but there's a lot of turnover for alternative, it seems. So if you don't like the music, it might change to something better.

(hm, i'm sure there's some board covering KC somewhere, we're apparently not that large a market)

I wonder what the percentage split is in listeners between KC and Seattle for the CoL.

Well I have to say, I just saw that Mike Kaplan is moving here! He is one of the coolest guys in radio, and The End is lucky to have him. He knows his stuff, and isn't an asshole. I know you didn't want to fire me Mike, it's ok! ;)

Also, I wanted to say that the end sounds pretty freaking great right now. Everytime I get in the car, it's on the end. They are playing the best music possible, and putting on some great, big concerts. From the "new" songs I'm hearing in rotation I will guess that this years End Fest will be HUGE. Adam Carolla is WAY funny... and TCOL has sucked me in too. I didn't realize how funny Afentra is! The chemistry between Lo Laz and her is great. Slimfast..... you sound good too buddy.

That brings me to Jordan Silver... at first she sounded a little green, but in a few weeks she has come a long way. She talks about lifestyle stuff, and funny things that happen to her. It keeps me interested. The other great thing about her, is she keeps the music going. Congrats to her.

Also........ I still think taking NO NAME off was a bad idea, however.... this "radio impulse" thing is cool! I find myself hearing more songs that I haven't heard forever. Plus.... i'm sure everyone buys into the fact that you can "text in your vote, and request." It's very interactive...

Now... I want to put out a disclaimer that I'm in no way trying to kiss ass, or get a job at KNDD. I just think the changes they've made sound good. I wanted to give Lo Laz and the crew credit. Personally, I would do away with the "silly sweepers" that talk about other stations... but hey... i'm still listening!

Seattle better be ready for Mike Kaplan. He is one of the smartest, coolest, nicest, guys in the biz. CONGRATS MIKE!
