107.7fm? WPFX

They have filed for another extension to stay silent. The app was accepted for filing and will likely be approved for another 6 months.

I hear that Toledo Radio, Inc doesn't have the $$$ to run WPFX and are looking to sell. Anyone hear the same, or contrary?

I'm on the outside looking in but if they cant get there act together already it would make sense to sell, I wonder if they would try to move it closer to Toledo?

Has anyone noticed the WLFC Findlay application to move the station to North Baltimore? Hmmmmm.....the tower site is the same as WPFX.

Hmmm, that could be used for 107.7 to claim that WLFC will continue to provide North Baltimore with "local service" if they are moved away.

Smart move, substantial increase in coverage for WLFC as well. However, the newly proposed FCC rules regarding move-ins to urbanized areas may trip WPFX up. Under present rules, all that is required is a "Tuck" showing that the community is sufficiently separate from the main city in an urbanized area (has a post office, business district, schools, etc.). Now a move-in to an urbanized area (e.g.: Arbitron rated county)is considered to be a proposal to add the channel to the urbanized area as a whole. Thrust of the rules is to discourage such proposals.

WPFX Returns

Its feb 19, the stay silent order is done. Now what?

I was in Findlay Ohio area today and noticed WPFX is back on the air. Low audio but the quality was not
too bad. Anyone else notice?

I'll believe it when I hear its back online. Make it an oldies format to fill the gap left by The (former) Big Buck in Ottawa....otherwise lease it out (or sell it outright) to Annuncuation Radio up in Toledo.

STA runs out first part of July. BAS is simulcasting WFRO until TRL closes. WLFC is approved for the COL to North Baltimore, which clears the way for a northern signal.

Is Grand Rapids Ohio a big enough town to support the new COL for WPFX? Thats what Toledo Radio has just recieved back from their engineering/lawyer.

WPFX Grand Rapids/Toledo. I guess that could work! Maybe a rock station?

The FCC records still list BAS as the owner. It's also has been rumored that TRI has no capital
which makes sense as the deal still apparently has not closed.

Grand Rapids seems too close to Toledo for a new COL as they are protecting another
107.7 in Michigan. My best guess is they would have to locate their new tower somewhere near Pemberville for this to work or lower their power if they move any farther north than that.

Ooh, Pemberville. Let me be the first to start the rumor that WPFX will move to Pemberville, allowing WCKY to move it's COL to Woodville...

Yes, we know the audio on WPFX is weak. Taking an off air feed from WFRO on a tuner, since we're too close to Canada to use the 720 hours rule for an STL.
